Clinique Daily Shampoo

I recently won a competition which provided me with a basket full of beauty goodies and one of the items within it was this shampoo. I feel very blessed to have had a chance to try it because with the normal price tag is around the £10 mark for this 200ml bottle. Strangely though I cannot seem to find this product for sale through ... clinique's own website, only through more generic sites like Amazon. It does make me wonder whether this product is now out of production or is so new as to not be available yet - I am inclined to think the former though as my hamper also contained Body Shop Bilberry shampoo which is also no longer available.
The bottle is not the most intuitive of packaging designs, being a normal, straight up and down screw top. The shampoo comes out in a hard to control way and personally I am not a fan of this bottle at all. It is not ideal when you are in the shower with wet hands either.
The fragrance of the shampoo is one of the best things about it, it smells of watermelon and is very light and refreshing. I liked the fact that this smell lingered on my hair too and when lathering it is a lovely and sensual experience because of this. The shampoo lathers very well and is easy to wash out, my one concern was that it tended to leave my hair feeling a bit stripped and 'squeaky' clean, you definitely need to follow it with conditioner.
Once dry I could not really tell the difference between having used this shampoo or a much cheaper one. My hair did not feel any cleaner or lighter (which is what the claims for this product are) and neither did it look any shinier or glossier. I felt a bit nonplussed to be honest!
To me this is a premium product which I would find hard to justify - I like Clinique as a brand but considering how long a 200ml bottle of shampoo would last for me (as I wash my hair daily) this just does not really present any kind of value for money. I could justify it more if I was blown away by the results but to be honest I was not. If you had given it me in a blank, unbranded bottle I never would have guessed this was from Clinique.
Very expensive for what you get and not a product I intend on parting with cash for!

Clinique Daily Shampoo

I wash my hair daily and have done for years, I have a real *thing* about my hair looking and feeling clean (if not always tidy!) so I detest the days when I simply haven't got time to at least dunk my head under the shower for a few minutes. A friend of mine gave me two sample bottles of Clinique Daily Shampoo sometime last year, this ... being a revelation to me as at the time I had no idea that Clinique had a range of haircare products.
As mine were samples (although full 200ml size) they were in very basic looking bottles; a simple silvered plastic bottle with screw top, the shampoo being dispensed in the 'old fashioned' way through the hole in the top of the bottle. I've since seen this shampoo in various designs of bottle, so would recommend you pop to your local Clinique counter if you really need to see the design before you buy.
I have mixed feelings about the shampoo, at first I loved it because it leaves my hair feeling so clean after washing but I also found it made my hair extremely dry and unless I used a deep conditioner each time it would be a nightmare to brush it. This kinda defeats the object of using a special daily-use shampoo, as having to use such a strong conditioner meant my hair would be weighed down within hours of washing and this in turn can remove some of the fresh appearance of freshly washed hair.
The smell is gorgeous, I couldn't actually work out what it was at first but I have since been reliably informed that it's watermelon. Now I know I can smell it, but underlying the fruity and very summery melon scent there is a slightly clinical aroma (typical Clinique) which does take some of the prettiness away. When in the shower I adore the sweet fragrance of the shampoo, unfortunately it doesn't linger for long on my hair after washing and within an hour all traces of it has disappeared.
This Daily Shampoo lathers beautifully, I love a good head full of bubbles when washing my hair and in this respect the shampoo definitely doesn't disappoint. I don't use hair styling products very often, but can confidently say that after using lots of hairspray recently the shampoo removed all residue of this the following morning and let my hair looking clean and natural once again (just the way I like it). You only need to use a small amount for each wash, my hair is almost waist length and a small splodge around the size of a fat 50p was all I needed to clean my longer than average tresses.
It rinses out very easily and afterwards I could feel no residue at all on either my hair or my scalp, due to years of over-washing I get an extremely itchy scalp if I'm not careful to remove all traces of any shampoo but I didn't have this problem when using Daily Shampoo.
After washing with this shampoo my hair has a lovely shine and feels absolutely spotless, the only real issue I have is the fact that it's so hard to brush afterwards and this can lead to a bit of unruliness as rogue hairs ping out at odd angles. Again, the conditioner will usually sort this out but I don't always want to use conditioner so this is a bit of a nuisance being almost forced to! I personally really do need to use a conditioner with this shampoo, although obviously this might not be the case for everyone so you'll just have to take a chance really.
The usual price for Clinique's Daily Shampoo is around the £10 mark for a 200ml bottle. I'm torn as I think this is a pretty good price for such a premium brand, but really I'd have preferred a shampoo which wouldn't have needed such a thick and creamy conditioner as I have to use with this one. I've used it since (thanks to more free samples) but don't think I'd actually buy a bottle as really there are cheaper shampoos out there that do an equally good job - if not better.

Clinique Daily Shampoo

Clinique always makes me dubious. I know it is rated highly in the fashion industry, but my experience with their skincare range has somewhat underwhelmed me before. Undeterred and having a relative in the hair industry has allowed me to try this rather expensive shampoo. At close to a tenner for a bottle, it is certainly one of the ... pricer options, putting it up there with Catwalk and Kerastase.
For your money, you are getting a slimline and genteel looking silver bottle, which looks classy and chic. It opens at the top then you simply squeeze out the liquid. It was a fairly good viscosity, with a deep thickness to it, meaning a little lathered up well. It was a pleasure to massage this into the scalp, but I would have liked a better smell, as the scent seemed somewhat lacking to me.
The after effects of the wash seemed good at wet stage, with a squeaky clean feel. I can usually tell by this point how it is going to blow dry afterwards. After the blow dry, the hair held up a good lustre and shine and had sufficient bounce in it to enable easy styling. am not sure it tamed my frizzy ends that well and I have had better results with the cheaper Aussie range here for keeping straggly ends under control.
In terms of what it did for my hair after a wash, I can confirm it does deliver a solid cleanse and it managed to remove traces of hairputty too. The hair did not feel weighed down and the styling process was easy too. On the downside, I have achieved similar results with much cheaper shampoos. There was not much to set this one aside, sos I would not hurry to part with that amount of cash for it. If you like the Clinique range though, then you will probably find this stylish shampoo up your street.
