Advantages: Really cools down skin, stops flaking
Disadvantages: A tad expensive, but worth it!
I bought this after sun in duty free whilst going on holiday. I also bought the sun lotion to match! As I am really bad at packing it was my fault for leaving my other sun lotions at home and I had to shell out for expensive sun cream and after sun at the airport, but at the same time it is nice having the Clinique fancy stuff!
My skin is really sensitive so I have to be really careful in the sun and make sure that I apply lots of sun cream, sometimes though, as hard as I try not to, I do get burnt. Because of this I need a good after sun lotion to use.
I really like this after sun. I found that with the added aloe vera in it, it really cools down my skin instantly which is really what I look for in an aftersun. I like something that cools my skin down and refreshes it since my skin gets really hot when its burnt or when I have been in the sun. It also really helps with moisturising my skin so I don't get horrible flaking skin, which is not a good look on holiday (or anytime!) I find that it absorbs in to the skin really quickly and is really effective in cooling burnt areas and moisturising. Another great thing about this lotion is that it is oil free, it is also allergy tested and fragrance free. Since the lotion was really good at soothing it really made me feel more comfortable and reduced and itching the sun caused me. Because the aloe cooled my skin I think that my skin was less red in the long run too.
I really like the design of the tube, it is a mint green colour with a big yellow 'C' on the front of it and then a yellow band across the middle with 'Clinique After Sun' written on it. It has a yellow plastic flip top which really aids with opening and closing the lotion quickly and easily and it saves some mess! (I really prefer flip tops to screw tops)
The after sun has to be used up within 24 months of being opened. I tend only to use after sun if I have spent too much time in the sun and have got a bit red, otherwise I just use my sun cream before going out in the sun. I guess I should get in to the habit of using it every time I go out in hot weather to protect my skin more.. Since I normally only really use this in summer too, I'm not sure whether I will use up the whole tube within 24 months, but I will make the effort since I don't want to throw it away with lotion still in it (maybe it's a good excuse for another holiday..?)
I can't remember how much I paid for this after sun in the duty free but you can buy it from Boots for £11.50, which I don't think is too bad considering you tend to pay quite a lot for a good after sun.
The lotion comes in a 150ml tube. I tend to really smother this on when I use it but I used it last summer and I still have half a tube left, so it has lasted me. But I guess it depends how much you are in the sun and how often you go on holiday!
I highly recommend this. It is not that much more expensive than other after suns and it really did cool down my skin quickly and stop it from flaking. It was a really good buy.

Summary: A great after sun which cools you down

- 31/07/08 If I don't have any after-sun, I tend to use Nivea Moisturising or E45 to moisturise. Good review |
