Advantages: Nice texture, Easy to use, Faded my circles a little, Leaves skin feeling refreshed.
Disadvantages: Not a miracle worker - but what is?!
After reading an article about eye creams in Elle magazine, I decided to start paying more attention to and investing in some more skincare. The article stated that the best age to start using an eye cream was in your early twenties and with myself turning twenty only a few months earlier, what could be a better time to pick one up?
I headed to Boots and instantly felt lost and confused by all the different brands, creams and promises. After hovering around the Clinique counter for a short while I was soon greeted by a friendly Sales Assistant who began to assess my needs and offered me a sample of their 'All About Eyes' cream to try out.
Described as a 'must have product' for all eyes it claims to reduce puffiness, dark circles and fine lines / wrinkles. It's also designed to help re-build and strengthen the skin under the eyes, which is often thin and fragile. It promises to soothe, soften and comfort the eye area and protect against environmental damage. It is a lightweight cream - gel consistency which absorbs 'quickly and effortlessly' and helps keep eye makeup in place and budge resistant. It states that it is safe to use around the eye area (where else?!) and is Ophthalmologist tested so suitable for all skin types. Sounded like the whole package in a small pot :-)
Clinique also make a 'All About Eyes Rich' formula which I was temtped to try, but the Sales Assistant told me that since my undereye skin is smooth and wrinkle free (for now!) the regular formula would be much better suited to my needs.
It is packaged in a small pink pot with a silver screw on lid and retails at £20.00 for 15ml. Since you only need a very small amount for each use, so far this tub has lasted me around 4 months and still has some left. (Though the packaging says to discontinue use after six months and re-purchase.)
I applied morning and night as prescribed using my ring finger and a light hand. The light texture is easily blended and smoothed around the eye area and doesn't feel heavy or sticky as some creams can. It absorbs quickly and creates a soft, primed texture that my concealer grabs onto effortlessly. The undereye skin feels tighter and fresher after use and to some extent, throughout the day too. I love the slight cooling sensation it gives too - Perfect for reviving tired eyes after not enough sleep!!
I apply at the end of my skincare routine after cleansing, toning and moisturising. A quick, easy step to add.
After using for the four months I mentioned, my undereye skin feels slightly tighter and more toned (though it wasn't loose or sagging to begin with so take that with a pinch of salt!) and my dark circles have been considerably lightened, though not completely banished unfortunately! But really, I'm just hoping it will help with fine lines and wrinkles in the future, and until then I feel happier knowing I'm using it and just maybe holding them off for a little while longer! ;-)
So, if you're looking for a nice, lightweight eye cream then perhaps keep this one in mind. I don't have many to compare it too, but it's definately the nicest one I have tried so far.
Or for more mature skin, maybe check out the 'Rich' formula - I'm sure I'll be updating to that version sometime in the future.
Summary: Another great product from my go-to skincare brand.
