Advantages: It works!, Reduces redness, speeds up spot dissapearance
Disadvantages: VERY EXPENSIVE!, May be drying to some skins
I don't normally get spots, but when I do it really shows! I have quite pale skin and because I only really get one at a time it's like a blot on the landscape! If I had lots it would just blend in...oh well I shouldn't complain! I bought a bottle of Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clear Blemish Gel with a particular blemish in mind. I felt a spot coming on just above my lip-the worst kind-so I rushed out and bought this! This is priced at £9.50 for 15ml, it's not cheap! That works out as a whopping £63.33 per 100ml!! For that "bargain price", you get a tiny bluey-green bottle with the famous Clinique logo proudly stamped on the front. The bottle has a twist off cap and small nozzle. The product claims to reduce irritation and control sebum (oil). On the Clinique website it also says "Targeted exfoliation", non drying, oil free and it contains alcohol and witch hazel to provide a "refreshing sensation" (so thats stinging faces for us then Clinique??) I'm not sure I believe the exfolation one but lets rate the other claims! I squeezed a small dot onto my finger and put it on the offending area and gently rubbed it in. I must say, it did sting slightly bit to me-that normally means things are working! The product is a gel which is absorbed very easily-you only need a tiny amount to do the job. The bottle says apply once to the area daily and if no dryness occurs and if required, you can apply it 2 to 3 times a day. I was impressed with how easily it absorbed-it did seem to make the skin in the area feel slightly tighter and less oily. I don't actually have oily skin-I have quite dry skin but the spot seemed to "calm down" and redness was reduced. The next day the spot was practically gone-when I get a spot in that area it uses hangs around for day so I was pretty pleased! I have continued to use this product occasionally when needed. This would be great for using if a
spot appeared before a night out! It would reduce the redness very quickly and be easily covered with makeup! It is also fragrance free and has a bit of a medicated smell. Heres my scores for certain aspects of the product! : 1-5 (5=wow 1=poor) Reduction of redness: 4 Ease of use: 5 Miraculous dissapearing of annoying blemishes: 4 Ability to hide under makeup: 5 Washes the dishes: 1 Hmph - doesnt do my washing up?! *lowers leg to refrain from kicking boyfriend out onto the street* It does score pretty well though. I also should mention that despite the hefty price and tiny (seems like a sample-size!) size, a little definitely goes a long way! I have used mine about 10 times since I first bought it and you can hardly tell it has been used at all! If you have dry/combination skin like me I would recommend this product. It hasn't dried out my skin and has done the job-I also have sensitive skin so I am impressed that it hasn't irritated my skin. (Technically all skin is sensitive but as you know, some need special treatment!) On very dry skin or very oily skin I'm not sure how effective it would be. I think on very dry skin it may be too harsh-one application a day I expect would work. On very oily skin, perhaps you could combine it with other products from the Anti Blemish Clinique range: Anti-Blemish Solutions Night-Time Gel, 50ml, £13.50 Anti-Blemish Solutions Cleansing Foam 125ml, £ 13 Anti-Blemish Solutions Anti-Bacterial Facial Soap, 150g, £10 Touch-Stick, 15ml, £10 Anti-Blemish Solutions Concealing Cream, 15ml, £9.50 Anti Blemish Solutions Daytime Shield, 50ml, £13.50 Anti Blemish Solutions Back and Chest Spray, 100ml, £13 As you can see the range has pretty much everything you could possibly want to beat those spots! I would really recommend chcking Ebay for these products before shelling out full price-there is lots of Clinique on Ebay :o) I hope my op has be
en helpful-all comments welcome of course! Christina xx (ooh-ps-I paid a lot less than £9.50 for mine-I couldn't afford it otherwise!)

- 26/04/03 Although I think Clinique is relatively good quality stuff, I much prefer Clarins. I don't think I would try this product. |
