Advantages: sets make up well, packaging
Disadvantages: price
There are two types of face powder on the market loose and pressed. This is a loose powder, whcih means it is applied with a brush as opposed to a sponge which you use with pressed powder.
It comes in a plastic round pot with a rather nice silver lid. Once you unscrew the lid you will see a sifter inside, this is there to ensure you only get a limited amount of powder out when you shake it. It also cuts down on wastage should you accidentally drop the pot and have it fall upside down, which I have had with other powders and trying to sweep it up back into the pot is not easy. In fact I have actually kept this pot and used it for other loose powders. I bought a powder from Bourjois but the sifter they gave me was loose round the edges so it kept spilling everywhere so I poured my powder into my Clinique pot so I'd say it has superior packaging.
A small powder brush is provided with the pot which you twist up to use but I do not find it useful enough for everyday brush use because it is so small it would take a while to dust the whole face and I found it quite rough too, though perhaps it may make a good emergency brush or be the right size for a weekend bag. I usually throw mine in the bin. I find you need a proper big soft brush which I purchased separately. Application is straight-forward. Simply dip the brush in, tap off the excess, and sweep gently over your face, being careful to get round your nostrils as sometimes people miss that bit.
I buy this in 'Transparency Neutral', as this is the shade that doesn't really have much colour to it. There are 3 other shades available. It can be worn on bare skin but i use it over foundation to help set it. It helps make my skin-tone more even quite significantly. With daily usage a pot will last about a year which justifies the price I think. It costs around £17.50 and is available from department stores. Clinique do another similar powder to this as an alternative - Gentle Light Powder - which is more shimmery.
Summary: a good buy
