Advantages: It works, doesn't become flakey or smudge, lasts all day, deep black colour
Disadvantages: Price
I am a self confessed mascara junky having numerous tubes of half used and new mascaras in my make up collection due to having not yet found that 'perfect' mascara, so hearing that Clinique had devised a mascara especially designed for the bottom lashes I decided that I must give it ago. I often find that mascara either smudges or becomes a little flaky and seems so wear off my bottom lashes so I was intrigued to see whether this mascara would behave in the same way or whether in fact it would stay in place all day.
==~~Price and Availability~~==
This bottom lash mascara costs £11.00, which I do feel is a little expensive as it can only really be used on the bottom lashes; especially as Clinique is very rarely on offer meaning you have to pay this price the majority of the time- though when ordering online off Clinique you do sometimes receive other free samples!
Clinique is now quite widely available, you can order it off their online store and can also purchase it in store at larger Boots stores, House of Fraser, Debenhams and most other large department stores. This mascara is currently available in two shades; black and brown/ black.
==~~Application~==
This first thing I noticed about this mascara was how tiny it is and due to this the wand itself is also tiny, meaning it is perfect for applying to the bottom lashes. The bristles are fairly tightly compacted yet, yet spaced evenly which allows you to coat the eyelashes a little more evenly. The mascara itself is a very glossy black smooth texture; it's apparently the same formulation as their 'Lash Power' mascara which I have previously reviewed and loved. I found this mascara very easy to apply due to the size of the wand, due to it being very small it meant I could precisely capture all the bottom lashes which I sometimes find harder to do with the larger brush wands.
Due to the mascara itself being very small, I sometimes found the applicator a little uncomfortable to hold, mainly due to it being so small I couldn't quite get the right grip on it. Despite this, with daily use of this mascara I soon found a way in which to hold it which still allowed precise application. Due to the smooth texture of this mascara it was very easy to apply to the eyelashes as it just glided on, the small size also meant it was very easy to apply mascara to the very inner corner eyelashes which I often find I cannot do with other 'normal' size mascara wands. I also found that I only need to apply one coat of this mascara to achieve this look, meaning a little goes a long way as often with other mascaras I have to apply at least two coats of mascara to my bottom lashes to look like I have any on.

When using this mascara on my bottom lashes they appeared to be considerably longer and evely spaced, yet did not at all look clumpy or spidery. The mascara did have a very slight gloss like finish to it, which I actually really liked it as I found that it made the eyelashes look healthier and the eyes more awake. This also brought out the black colour of the mascara which I also liked it as I hate it when mascaras are a grey black colour. When comparing this mascara on my bottom lashes compare to others I definitely noticed a difference, they looked considerably less clumpy and spidery and also noticed that a lot more of my lashes had been individually coated in the mascara, making my eyes look bigger.
Unlike most other mascara I have applied to my bottom lashes I found that this mascara stayed in place all day, living up to its claims. It neither became flaky and neither did it become smeary or smudged underneath my eyes and even stayed looking freshly applied all day which was the man bonus to this mascara as I often find myself having to reapply my mascara on my bottom lashes. The gloss like feel black colour also stayed in place all day so neither did the mascara start to appear dried out or a grey black colour even when wearing it all day. It is safe so say I was thoroughly I impressed with the look achieved with this mascara and also the staying power. Despite the great staying power of this mascara it was still very easy to remove and neither did it cause drag or pull at my eyes. Very similar to the Lash Power mascara by Clinique when you use certain temperature water in this mascara (fairly warm) the mascara tends to remove itself in pieces and is very quick to do so. It is also just as quick and easy to remove with regular face wipes or cotton wool and cleanser/ make up remover.

Overall I have been very impressed with this mascara and although to begin with I was a little dubious as to whether or not it would live up to its claims of no smearing or smudging underneath the eyes, I thoroughly believe it has lived up to these claims. I live the glossy of this mascara and the fact that I only need a small amount to achieve such a lovely look I can see this mascara lasting me a fairly long time, meaning that the £11 price tag is a little more justified. Although I do love this mascara I do still find £11 a little excessive for a mascara that can only be used on the bottom lashes and although I will probably still repurchase it as it means I no longer have to suffer from smeary/ flaky mascara underneath the eyes I do feel it would be much better priced around £8.
Nonetheless other than the price I cannot really fault this mascara and for that I would recommend this mascara and am therefore going to award it 4 stars.
