Advantages: Takes away dead skin cells revealing a fresher you!

Disadvantages: Expensive. May be too harsh for very sensitive skin.

I was once collared by the lovely lady at the Clinique counter and she showed me the three step skin care system using the skin on the back of my hand to demonstrate the clarifying lotion and the moisturiser. She stuck a piece of sticky tape on the back of my hand, pulled it off and showed me the detritus which was stuck to it. Then, after a sweep of clarifying lotion with a cotton wool ball, she did the same again and there were no dead skin cells on the tape! Fair enough, they probably had all been stuck to the first piece of tape but I was impressed and the moisturising lotion sank straight into my skin with no grotty dead skin cells getting in the way. So I bought a bottle of the clarifying lotion (couldn't afford the soap and the moisturiser too!) for about £20. Yeah!

The lotion comes in 4 variations for different skin types. The Clinique lady assessed my skin and suggested I go for number 2. I used it every night, as a cleanser and it removes makeup really well. It feels quite harsh on the skin and certainly takes away the dead skin, it feels like it's taking away the top layer of my face! It makes my eyes water a little, probably due to the alcohol content )it does say to avoid the eye area on the back of the bottle!) but it does leave my skin feeling much smoother and looking fresh and revitalised and looking dewy.

A bottle will last a long time as you don't need to use a great deal each time which is good as it does cost a fair bit. I suppose part of that is paying for the Clinique name. I have found it slightly cheaper to buy in Superdrug rather than from a Clinique counter but I don't buy it often. Only as a treat!

I have also tried it on other areas where my skin has felt a little dry, such as on my legs. It does work well! And another use: when using fake tan, if you find the results a little dark or patchy, use the clarifying lotion to get rid of or fade the bits you don't like, it strips it away like no-body's business, probably because it's removing the dead skin cells. Handy though!

Four stars because of the expensive prices. Great product though!

Summary: Works really well to take the dead skin cells away from your skin.

Why is that? Clinique is the only expensive brand of skincare I've ever used, would be interested to know about others. x

I know a few beauticians and they all hate Clinique.
