Advantages: doesnt sting like no2

Disadvantages: too drying on combination to dry/sensetive skin

I was recommended this Clinique toner by one of the advisors at my local Clinique. I was previously the no2 toner but this felt a bit stingy and too uncomfortable on my skin as it was too sensitive from spending hours in the sun. It was the summer after all and I wanted to make the most of it and get a tan.

So this clarifying lotion was the 3rd level up and meant that it would take a little more off than level one and two. Thinking about it now, I'm not sure why I got recommended this one, since my skin was already quite dry and the last thing I wanted to do was get rid of my tan.

I tried this toner out in the shop and from what I felt there, this was more gentle and not stingy feeling like the no2. I think this could be because there was no menthol in the no3 and that takes the tingling and stinging out. So I thought this would be ok for me to use and got a small bottle to try.

A few days later, I noticed that my skin had gotten even dryer. It took more off than just the thin layer of the top layer of skin and my tan faded very quickly using this toner. I went back to Clinique and another advisor told me that this indeed was too harsh for me and she couldn't understand why I'd been advised this one either.

I now have no1 and this is gentle enough for me to use on a daily basis. I'd say that no2 and 3 aren't actually bad, they're just not suited for sensitive and dry skin. No2 is for combination and no3 for oily skin. I don't suffer from oily skin at all so, I guess you'll have to make sure you get an advisor not to recommend something completely opposite of what your requirements are.

Summary: i got recommended the wrong cleanser by a clinique sales lady
