Advantages: Tones down reddend skin, skin looks dewy after application, SPF 15
Disadvantages: Slides off oily skin, doesn't have great staying power
I received a free sample of this with a magazine and couldn't wait to try it. According to Clinique, Redness Solutions Makeup SPF 15 camouflages redness. The soothing oil-free formula instantly colour-corrects flushing and blushing. Beneficial probiotic technology helps strengthen skin's barrier. Keeps environmental triggers at bay with SPF plus antioxidants. It is suitable for all skin types and is available in 6 shades with an RRP of £22 for a 30ml bottle. This product is available from Boots, Debenhams, other department stores that have a Clinique counter and online.
The shade I used was 03 Calming Ivory, which is a medium shade which is perhaps slightly darker than I would normally go, but the colour is wearable on my skin. The foundation is easy to apply to the skin, the silky formula glides over the skin and blends well. I have blemished and red pigmented patches on my chin from spots and this foundation does cover them up better than other foundations - it doesn't completely eradicate them, I can still faintly see them, but the coverage is better than other foundations. My skin looks dewy after applying this, it doesn't give a matte finish to the skin and my face feels light, so it doesn't feel as though I am wearing a heavy foundation.
After wearing this for several hours I find that the foundation starts to slide off and needs touching up. I have slightly oily skin and don't wear powder over my make-up, so this will have affected the longevity of this foundation. Although from my experiences I don't think this is suitable for oily skins, despite what Clinique say. I wear glasses and the foundation gathered around the bridge of my nose because the product just sat on top of my skin. The overall, basic coverage of the foundation did last until the end of the day, but the red, blemished areas on my chin did need touching-up - but this was the most important area that needed covering!
Removing what remained of this product is simple with cleanser and luckily this foundation hasn't caused me to breakout or clogged my pores.
Overall, I would probably recommend this to individuals with dry/ normal skin as this does create a nice even finish to the skin with a medium coverage which does help disguise reddened skin. I wouldn't however recommend this for oily skins and this will just slide off. I have used other foundations on my skin which have staying powered with a similar coverage, which I prefer.
Thankfully, I discovered that I am not keen on this with a free sample and I didn't fork out £22. It's not terrible, but I've used better. The coverage on the reddened areas is no better to when regular foundation and concealer is used.
