Advantages: works well, leaves your face smooth and soft

Disadvantages: more expensive than other moisturisers

Since I am the type of person who burns at the mere suggestion of sun, and am paranoid everytime the weather heats up, I have been covering my face and every other uncovered part of me in suncream for the last three or so months now. However, as September marches on and it becomes increasingly clear that Summer has said goodbye, I've decided to put the suncream away until next year. This doesn't sound like much of a problem, but since I have been using a moisturising suncream and so no moisturiser for the past few months, and the fact that the weather is getting drier, my skin has been getting dryer and dryer over the past few weeks. Since I didn't want to continue using suncream throught the Winter months, through fear of looking strange, I dug out Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion, which I used all of last winter.

This moisturiser is 'Step 3' in Clinique's 3 Step skin care range, after cleanser and toner, and is recommended for people with very dry to dry combination skin. I have combination skin with small patches of dryness, and don't use it in conjunction with any other skin products, and it still works fantastically for me, so you don't necessarily have to listen to the advice on the bottle. I just use a small amount of the moisturiser and rub it into my whole face with my fingers, and my face instantly feels softer and less dry, though without greasiness. I use it once or twice a day, depending on how dry my skin feels, and have noticed that when I use it for weeks on end that my skin does feel more soft and smooth naturally as a result.

The moisturising lotion is available in sizes of 50ml or 125ml, and comes either in a plain bottle, bottle with a pump or in a tube. I prefer to get the larger version of the plain bottle, as it is better value for money than the 50ml version, and I don't really want one with a pump or in a tube. Whichever way you choose to buy it however, the product is still the same: a fantastically successful, yellow moisturising lotion. This moisturiser is instantly recognisable due to it's yellow colour, which reminds me slightly of very smooth custard, though I'm not very sure why, as it's much runnier. Very little is required to moisturise my whole face, so even when I use the 50ml version it still lasts me for most of winter, so it is good value for money.

Though, that isn't to say that it's cheap. A 50ml bottle will set you back £15, and a 125ml bottle costs £26, which is pretty steep considering that you can get good moisturisers for less than half the price on other brands. However, the moisturiser really does last a long time, and it seems to get even moisturising on my face even though I have combination skin, so it is worth the extra few pounds if you've been having trouble getting a suitable moisturiser for cheaper. Luckily, I've received it a couple of times for Christmas or my Birthday, so I haven't had to worry about the price, though I do know that especially now, people are wary about spending a lot of money on luxury items, though when you factor in the fact that it works exceptionally well and lasts a long time, it's not much more expensive than many other brands.

In conclusion, I would strongly recommend Clinique's dramatically different moisturising lotion to you all, as it moisturises like nothing else and makes your skin feel sexily smooth. I couldn't really tell you how it's dramatically different, other than perhaps the colour, and the fact that it works a lot better than it's competitors. You can buy this from all Clinique stands in shops such as Boots and House of Fraser, or alternatively there are many places where it is available online.

Summary: A great moisturising lotion from Clinique.
