Advantages: non-irritating, easy to find in stores, clinique bonus time

Disadvantages: old-fasioned, oily, overrated

~Introduction~

Clinique's famous 'Three Step' (for the "famous Clinique glow") was invented somewhere around the 1950's. In the forty-odd years it has been cleverly pushed on to customers it has changed minimally- after all, say Clinique, why change a winning formula?
This is step 3 in the routine, and this moisturiser is recommended for all skin types- therefore, since the dawn of Clinique, this has been used by zillions of ladies. So it can't be as awful as some people would have you believe. But, it doesn't take into account the developments in skincare made since circa 1959, and so although it once may have been 'dramatically different' it is now dramatically done before.

~The Packaging~

The product comes in a 30ml or 50ml square plastic container. There's a development- I believe it once was glass. At first I was stunned that you have to pour this product out- until I realised the correct etiquette is to lift it out using a cotton bud. So add cotton buds to the price tag! Although it doesn't matter to most, I like the look of Clinique packaging. I like the retro-style 'C'. So I think this looks nice on the dresser.

~The Product~

This is scentless and a light yellow, slightly greasy and semi-thick liquid. I like the colour. It is the same colour as Dr.Hauschka's Quince Day Cream (which is a much better product in my opinion) and I like the colour of that too. DDML does dry like egg yolk though, so expect that around the lid and neck of the bottle.
Dot this on your face and rub it in. It is slightly oily but your face becomes matte quite quickly. It makes an OK make-up base, and does a good job with dry areas. However, if you have oily skin, be warned. You may have a slick on your hands by midday. By the evening people will probably be able to check their hair in your mirrored forehead. Personally I can use this in the winter months (but only a few

dots of it- don't use too much!). I don't- because I realise it is pretty basic and not really worth the money- but I could do. I do keep an old bottle of it as a back-up moisturiser for when I suffer reactions from new unsuitable products though. So it isn't all bad. And sometimes I use it at night as it is pretty rich.

~so~

I'd be a hypocrite to give this any less than 3 stars, considering I like to own a bottle of DDML at all times. It doesn't inflame my sensitive skin and has a texture I can work with- so long as I have blotting papers in my handbag! But, I will say that for this day and age it is pretty unremarkable- it contains no SPF for starters, uses no AHAs, BHA's, balancing, purifying, mattifying, radiance boosting, skin soothing, age defying properties, and is still quite pricey when you consider it doesn't last that long, especially if you fail to use cotton buds. I think people should shop around for products- research them and the company- I don't think in this moisturiser the consumer is necessarily getting the best for their money.

Quick extra note: Although I said this has 'no AHAs, BHA's balancing, purifying etc. . . ingredients I don't go in for gimmicks and think a lot of claims moisturisers make are rubbish. I think simplicity is best for the skin, and DDML has that. But, Clinique would get my vote more readily if they didn't try to con their customers in thinking these 3-step products are *special* or *dramatic*. I think it is false advertising! Don't even get me started on the other 3-step products. . .

I got a small bottle of this with one of their giveaways and wasn't impressed with it at all. It is very greasy and the bottle is a bit awkward to use. This moisturiser is always raved about in magazines which only enforces the idea that they get paid to promote certain products.
