Advantages: gives your skin a drink, moisturises very well, easily absorbed

Disadvantages: the price for such a small amount

Since I was younger, I have always noticed the Clinique counter in my local Boots store, but what usually stands behind the counter, makes me feel intimidated. Yes I think you all know who I mean, the over-the-top made up ladies in their long white coats, looking at you as if to say “why you coming this way, the collection 2000 products are at the other end of the shop” lol. Okay, maybe they don’t think that, but I’m almost certain they check you out when you walk past. Looking to see if you might need one of their products to brighten your skin up. When I was younger I didn’t wear much make up and I never wore any moisturiser. I wear some when I can be bothered to put it on, but half the time I can’t.
I have often wondered what Clinique items are like, as I think to myself, their products are very expensive, so surely they must work better than anything else. (Before you say anything, yes I know that just because a product is expensive, it doesn’t mean it will work any better than a cheaper version, but it’s always nice to think that if you spend that little bit extra, you are going to get a much more decent result).

I have very dry skin but have always stuck to the cheap moisturisers, such as Asda’s own brand, but they seem to leave my skin feeling tight and a little red, and the dryness comes back after a short while of applying it, so I am always looking round for stuff that will work well for me. I did use an after sun lotion that stopped my face being dry (a Baywatch branded one – see I am a true Baywatch fan), but I have ran out, and can’t find my beloved Baywatch potion anywhere. I have tried other after sun lotions, but they just don’t work the way this Baywatch miracle did.

I had a look late last year on the Clinique website, at some of the product prices, and I was shocked. £12 for a lipstick, £50 for perfume, £9 for an eye shadow. I decided the Clinique labs
in New York must use top secret ingredients, are their lipsticks long lasting, do their skin care products work wonders for damaged skin? I decided and I am very sorry for having to mention this again as I am sure you are all sick and tired of hearing about it now, but I had to take a tiny peek on eBay.

AND…that is where my obsession started!!! No longer do I buy cheap and nasty products. I just search the endless listings on eBay and eBid for cheaper Clinique beauty products. Now I can try all sorts of different Clinique items, without having to face those intimidating sales assistants. Yippee. I can walk into Boots and think HAHA, I am wearing your products, BUT I got them cheaper elsewhere!!!

One of the things that drew me to Clinique was the actual word ‘CLINIQUE’. Look at it, to me it sounds like a clinical formula with a hint of uniqueness. Well their products must be unique, take the product I am going to write about today for instance (I WILL get round to it lol) it’s called dramatically different moisturising lotion (DDML). That draws my attention to this product over any other moisturiser. It sounds unique and I hoped it would have a brilliant effect on my skin.

The container it comes in looks elegant and unique. Most moisturisers I have seen come in long thin boring white plastic tubes. This moisturiser however, comes in a rectangular hard plastic container with a silver lid. The elegant looking CLINIQUE logo sits on the front, along with minor descriptions of the product. The writing is silver and reminds me of something you might find in Harrods. And I’ve never even been in there before. I’m just excited because this is the first Clinique product I have tried. The bottle to me looks elegant, sexy, expensive and dedicated to improving your skin. The only thing it doesn’t improve is your bank balance, but we will move onto that later. The container is see-through and the liquid in
side looks a pale creamy yellow colour.

I suffer (only minor) from a rare skin disorder called rosacea, so my cheeks are always a little red and my face in certain areas is very dry. I’ve tried doctor’s potions but they don’t work. I’ve tried other lotions and potions, but they don’t tackle my dry skin problem and they always leave my skin tight and red. I have tried aloe vera gel, which gets rid of the dryness, makes my face feel very cold, but also leaves a minor stinging sensation. I have to say however, that for the first time in my life I have found a moisturiser, which has given me fantastic results, and shown me that for ONCE in my life, I can have beautiful skin just like anyone else.

From what I have noticed, Clinique DDML comes in 3 different sizes, all of which are very expensive for a moisturiser. 125ml costs you £24.50 on the Clinique website and 50ml will cost you £14. I think my 200ml one from Asda was only about 99p, so you can see the huge price difference. I brought myself a tiny little 15ml from eBay, just to test incase I didn’t like the product. This cost me about £4 including the postage, so I didn’t think it was too bad compared to normal Clinique prices.

This product is the skins moisture drink, it helps replenish lost moisture. Skin looks fresher and healthier, it leaves no residue. It’s safe to use around the eye area, and it comforts and smooths the skin. Well it most certainly does and I am very pleased with it as you will soon see.

Once I unscrewed the silver lid, I couldn’t squeeze the lotion out as the container was too hard, so I had to keep pressing it into the palm of my hand. The banana milkshake look-alike liquid inside feels like a blob of whipped cream. It is quite runny but has a creamy texture to it. It is a pale yellowy colour and if it smelt of bananas I would keep sniffing it. Unfortunately it doesn’t smell of anything (itR
17;s 100% fragrance free), just a yellowy unfragranced creamy lotion.
My face was very dry, so I rubbed a tiny bit on to my cheeks and noticed my cheeks started to flare up red again. TYPICAL, would I ever find something which would not flare my skin up. I was disappointed. But not for long, as about a minute after I had blended the lotion in, my face felt smoother. It didn’t feel dry one bit. The lotion was very easy to rub in, it didn’t feel sticky or overly wet and it didn’t take forever to blend in. It left my face feeling cool and smooth. About an hour later, my face still felt smooth and soft and I was very pleased that it had worked for me. The only problem is my skin goes a little red for a minute when I’ve applied it, but then it calms down again. When I woke up the next morning, my face wasn’t dry. It was indeed a miracle, a Clinique miracle that I would be using every day and have used every day since. It tackles dry skin issues with strong dedication, and it wants to for the price LOL.

My skin will be drinking this ‘moisture drink’ every day, plus the DDML is clinically formulated and allergy tested.

What do you do when you get thirsty? You have a drink. Go on and give your skin a drink when it gets thirsty too. My skin has obviously been dehydrated and that’s why it was so dry, but not anymore, it is given a drink everyday and I feel so happy!!!

P.S. This is my first review since my last one which was months and months ago…I am now back for good :0)

I love most Clinique products, they really seem to agree with my skin.
