Advantages: Isn't greasy, leaves skin feeling soft, fine to use under makeup, no strong smells

Disadvantages: Very expensive!!! Have to wait at least 4 weeks to see any results, even then only slight change.

I should probably start off by saying how I came to purchase this product. Basically I've never had acne but I did develop a fair bit of blemish scarring, some of which turned into dark spots. I did have a couple of sun spots before ever having breakouts, but this has caused my skin tone to become very dull and uneven. Certainly problems nobody wants! Anyway I was getting tired of having to cover these up everyday so was hoping to find a product that would help with this. Cliniques Even Better Dark Spot Corrector was the first dark spot Corrector I had come across, and I must admit the hefty price did make me hesitate to rush out and buy it. In the end I decided to bite the bullet and headed straight for Boots.

The Price:
I picked up a 50ml version of this and without even stopping to look at the price, I headed for the checkout. I thought the price was around £30, but this is for the 30ml bottle. For a bottle containing 50ml of this product, will set you back at least £50!! :O Luckily I wasn't on a budget back then, and I reasoned with the arguement, 'well if it works...'

The Packaging:
The dark spot Corrector comes in a white and clear plastic cylinder shaped bottle with a pump and a clear plastic lid. The side of the bottle plainly features the name of the product and the Clinique logo. The product itself is yellow/golden in colour and has a slightly gel-creamy texture. It does have a sent to it, but nothing that is overpowering or unpleasant.

The Claim:
Clinique claims that this dark spot corrector will do exactly as it suggests, as well as improving the appearance of acne scarring and overall skin tone. They also claim that you should see results after 4 weeks of continual use. Personally for the price of the product 4 weeks is a long time to wait, especially if you're impatient like me!

Directions for use:
The directions given for this product is to apply it daily to the face after cleansing and toning and then follow with sunscreen, to protect the skin from further sun damage. Then to proceed as normal with any makeup etc.

The Verdict:
For me, I wasn't completely sold on this product. I really wanted to love this, mainly for how much it cost me I was expecting to see at least some improvement! However I honestly didn't notice any change... Admittedly I probably wasn't as religious with Jain this product as I should have been but I did apply it almost every day for several months until all of the product had been used. I didn't bother repurchasing, as it is very expensive and from reviews I have read, most people only noticed a slight difference in colour to their dark spots. This to me suggests you would have to continue using this product, which is a price I'm not sure I'm willing to commit to, considering I didn't see much of a change. The only thing it seemed to be for me, is a very expensive moisturiser. And for a moisturiser, I certainly wouldn't pay that much! I would have given this one star but knowing that I wasn't very disciplined in using it, I think I should therefore give it at least 2. I think I may try again but with smaller bottles to give it a fair trial, but so far I am doubtful as to whether my opinion will change.

Summary: One of those products you just can't make your mind up on. Requires a lot of patience, and money!!
