Advantages: Offers a flawless appearance, which lasts all day

Disadvantages: Doesn't cover distinguished marks

I've used foundation for as long as I can possibly remember, as I favour a flawless and airbrushed appearance to my skin. Whilst I would use a cream consistency foundation when I was younger, I've been using mousses for the past ten years or so. My sister is a huge fan of Clinique make-up and regularly hands me bags of products to try out. Contained within my latest batch of goodies were a number of sample sachets of Even Better, which is a liquid foundation suitable for those who suffer with dry, combination or oily skin and it claims to even and correct the skin tone.

I always avoid foundations that contain oil, particularly as I would describe my skin type as T-zone where I suffer with an oily forehead and nose and am prone to dry patches on my cheeks. Consequently, I do not wish to exacerbate the problem. Clinique claim that the foundation "helps to combat hyper-pigmentation and deliver brighter skin". The product is mineral enriched and is claimed to be long wearing, so I had high hopes that it would deliver first class results.

Whilst my skin does not offer an uneven tone I have a small lump and mark on the bridge of my nose following laser surgery for the removal of a growth around twenty years ago. As a result, I am conscious of its appearance and despite the surgery being successful and the scar initially being barely visible, over the years it has become noticeable as it has slightly darkened in colour. A health check has confirmed that there is nothing untoward going on, but I regularly need to use concealing products to hide it. As a result, I require my foundations to offer excellent skin coverage whilst having the ability to disguise any imperfections. I must admit that this is the first time in years that I've tried out a liquid foundation, as my first experience was similar to covering a glossed skirting board with emulsion where the colour would simply not stay put. Consequently, I've always tended to opt for products offering a thicker consistency, as I believed they would be more effective with coverage.

Although this is described as a liquid, its consistency resembles that of a slightly runny body lotion and it is easily applied to the skin. The samples I received from my sister were named neutral shade (05), which is a touch darker than my usual choices, such as ivory or fair. I favour the fact that the foundation is fragrance free and my initial concerns of the product sliding off my skin were soon pushed aside, as the foundation was easily spread and effortlessly blended into my skin with no tell tale signs. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of coverage that could be achieved from a liquid product and I would go as far as saying that the results far exceeded my expectations, particularly when only a small amount is needed. I was initially of the opinion that the foundation would offer a slight stickiness following application, but this is not the case, as it dried within seconds whilst offering a smooth matt finish without needing a primer beforehand.

I am not keen on applying face powder on top of foundation, particularly as it can often lift off patches of foundation, which can give a patchy and caked appearance. The foundation gives my skin a natural healthy colour, which brightens my skin with no sign of shine and I am pleased that I sampled a slightly darker colour than one I would normally choose. Unfortunately, I cannot evidence the claim of combating hyper-pigmentation, as I do not suffer any issues in this area. The foundation contains SPF 15, which is a must for me when choosing a foundation. The only slight negative for me is that it does not effectively cover my skin imperfection, but I was not expecting it to do so. Consequently, a small dab of a concealer stick assists with this problem. Longevity is superb as the foundation continues to offer my skin an airbrushed appearance from the time I apply it at approximately 7.45 am until 5 pm when I begin to notice the first signs of wear. Removing the foundation is effortless where I use either baby lotion and a piece of cotton wool.

I had six sample sachets in total with each offering two days use and as you have already guessed, I was absolutely thrilled with the results. Once I have finished using my current foundation I will be changing to Clinique and despite the price tag of £22 for a 30 ml bottle I feel this is good value for money and if I compare my use of the sachets I would estimate the bottle to last at least eight months with daily use. There is a wide variety of shades from which to choose, which will cater for all types of skin. I cannot recommend this product highly enough, as it provides the perfect flawless appearance and for the reasons discussed above, it receives 5 stars from me.

I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.

Summary: An excellent foundation to offer an airbrushed appearance
