Advantages: Lovely colour pay off, creamy formula

Disadvantages: Price

I think I must have a bit of an addiction to beauty related freebies with magazines and this was one I was definitely looking forward to trying. Glamour magazine a couple of months ago were giving away Clinique freebies and I have to admit I was one of those people that hunted high and low for all the samples and I managed to bag myself all of them!

I was really looking forward to trying out the High Impact Lip Colour and lots of times I have swatched them at the Clinique counters but I couldn't ever justify to myself buying a lipstick at the price of near on £15 just because.
The packaging with the freebie lipsticks I believe was slightly different to the standard packaging as the tube was the "Clinique green" with a silver band around. This was a full sized sample and I have been using it for a good few months now so I could really get a feel for the product. The colour Glamour were giving away was number 17 in Rosette which I believe is a colour from their permanent line so it is available to buy.

Clinique describe this colour as being "golden rose" which I think is just right. I was a little wary of trying this at first as I felt it seemed more of a "mature" colour but after using it for a good few weeks I think that this colour is just about perfect for anyone no matter the age or skin tone. The lipstick itself has a satin frost finish and has tiny specks of gold which makes it not totally matte colour but not an over the top shimmer either. The formulation itself I think is quite creamy and the colour that comes out is almost identical to that in the tube which I find to be unusual. It also has an SPF of 15 which is great for some extra added sun protection. I would say its quite a medium coverage and its not as sheer as I'm used to but it is still a lovely natural colour. I haven't at any point found the lipstick to be in any way drying and the staying power is excellent. I find that it usually stays on anywhere between 4-6 hours even with eating and drinking.

I would really love to try out some more colours from this range particularly "After Party" and "Cider Berry". I think that if you have the money to treat yourself to a higher end lipstick I would definitely recommend these.

Summary: A lovely lipstick if only I had the money for more!
