Disadvantages: Perhaps the price - but it's not major
Clinique's High Impact Mascara is a great value for money buy. When I was shopping in Boots over a year ago for makeup I looked at the regular slightly cheaper brands like Revlon and Maybelline and I was shocked to see how expensive these brands were now, they have all slightly crept up in price. So I wondered over to the premium brands to browse through their mascaras. I looked at Clinique because it is a brand I love. When I bought this mascara it was £12.50 (unfortunately it has crept up in price this year to £14.50 which is the only disappointment- but I am hooked on the mascara so buy it at this price anyway). You get 8g for £14.50 and this seems to last forever.
***How the mascara is packaged***
The mascara comes in a classic Clinique floral box in cream and green. The actual mascara packaging is completely black and it shimmers slightly in the light which makes the colour look like a dark green. The mascara wand is large and thick which might look off-putting, but it does not clump at all and I think this big brush is fantastic. It completely separates the lashes whilst also making them look thicker.
***Why is this mascara so great? ***
It comes in 2 different colours: black and black/brown.
It is such a great mascara because it lengthens, it gives fantastic bold colour and it gives great volume and definition. It definitely gives a false lash effect. Perfect for a night out, but if you want a natural look it probably isn't natural enough unless you use just one coat. I love my eyelashes to look as long as they can day and night. I often have people ask me what mascara I use and they always compliment which is nice.
It is hypoallergenic which in Clinique terms means it has been allergy tested for sensitive skin. It is ophthalmologist tested (tested for the eyes) and is sensitive enough for contact lens wearers.
I would give it 5 stars! It does not run under my eyes or smudge like other mascaras have done in the past and it comes off so easily with eye makeup remover.
If you are wary about trying a new mascara at this price, Clinique often has gifts on which come with a half size of this mascara, fantastic to give it a try for the first time.
Summary: Clinique's High Impact Mascara provides a false lash effect for £14.50
