Advantages: Creates some length
Disadvantages: No 'high impact' for me
Clinique's make up is something I have recently started looking into after venturing into the world of premium branded make up after being fed up of poor quality (on the whole) from high street branded make up. I have bought a few pieces of skin care in the past such as their 3 step skin regime but in terms of make up I hadn't actually purchased anything before. As most of us are aware, mascara is a vital part of a make up routine and if you're using one that doesn't work properly or doesn't look particularly good, I often feel very aware of this and it puts a boots in my self esteem which is why I often turn to false eyelashes, particularly for nights out, to give me fuller lashes and my confidence a good old boost!
As there are so many mascaras out there to chose from it can be difficult to decide which one is best when it comes to purchasing. I know for me that when I go into my local Boots I feel bombarded with all the possibilities that claim to improve my eyelashes/look/life to some extent but none of them never really seem to fulfill their promise as much as I had initially hoped. Most mascaras I have used in the past, I never stick to once they have ran out because they lack the 'wow' factor that I really need for my thin and rather straight eyelashes. When I came across High Impact mascara by Clinique it seemed like exactly what I needed to give my lashes the boost that was long overdue.
Clinique products can be purchased in most Boots stores, not just larger city ones. There cosmetic stands can be found in many department stores such as Debenhams and John Lewis, and their products are also available online from the Clinique website and eBay might be worth a try if you're looking for a bargain. It might be worth holding out until Clinique have some sort of offer on such as Bonus Time when you get to sample free products, just to see if you like it. That is how I initially came across Clinique mascaras as I received one in Bonus Time when purchasing other products. The mascara I tested was different to this one however when I went to purchase the full size one it wasn't available, so I purchased this as my alternative, available for around £15.
In terms of aesthetics this product is quite striking and classy looking with a black tube and lid with the brand name and claims on the front in white. The wand isn't unlike others I have come across before, with quite a lot of bristles packed together, however it doesn't have the sized wand I was expecting to make the 'high impact' that it claims. I found the wand wasn't overly wet when I removed it from the tube but this didn't bother me as I don't like my eyelashes to be particularly wet and tend to let one coat dry before applying the next to create maximum volume.
When it came to using the mascara it didn't create the 'high impact' I was expecting. I needed a lot of volume and fullness to get the look I want, but this didn't happen to the extent I wanted. While it did give some length and definition to my eyelashes it looked very natural and the results were hardly high in their impact. It did very little to my eyelashes and unfortunately I have had to return to my false eyelashes. While it works slightly in creating a natural look for a day to day make up routine, I did not purchase it for this reason as I was seeking a more drastic look.
Overall I would not recommend this mascara to anyone who is looking for high impact as this really isn't the mascara to create that look, however for a day to day mascara it is good as it does still manage to create some length and slight volume. I will award it with 2 Dooyoo because it didn't live up to the extent I was expecting.
Summary: Didn't do what I was expecting
