not as mild as it says (Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild)

Advantages: smells ok

Disadvantages: made my skin tight and dry without reducing oiliness

I was recommended to try this facial soap by the in-shop clinique beautician, who may have been a little biaised, as i complained of an oily t-zone and dry cheeks. she said it would mattify the oily bits whilst softening the dry bits. hooray, i thought, and armed with my little tester i skipped off homewards, heading to the bathroom to lather up and give it a bash.

the soap is actually a gel and does come up into a nice lather with a bit of perserverence. i had high hopes for this wee soap - i'd hoped that it would balance my skin out nicely without drying it out.

however. even while i was covering my face with the soap, i could feel it drying out my skin. it was meant to be mild, but it actually felt like one of the harshest soaps i've used.

after rinsing with warm water, as directed, and patting my skin dry, it felt like my skin was tightening and drying out. it was pulled quite tight and even though i put moisturiser on almost immediately, i still had a feeling off dryness.

the next morning, my skin around my nose (where it was normally dry) was a little red and flaky while my t-zone was neither more nor less oily. in short, all this soap had done was tighten my skin unpleasantly and make the dry bits drier.

the good points... it smells quite nice.

i also discovered that it doesn't remove eye makeup, so an additonal product would be required if this was bought.

in summary - it wasn't for me, but there are still good recommendations out there and i know people it works for. i don't have particularly sensitive skin, but it just didn't suit me.

Summary: didn't suit my skin, ended up with drier dry bits and oily bits stayed oily.
