Advantages: Looks good, SPF, lots of colours
Disadvantages: Bit pricey
From my previous reviews many of you will know that I love Clinique products. This lipgloss is my latest purchase from their range and like Clinique products it doesn't disappoint.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY:
I got my tube of this from the States where Clinique products are about half the price! Over here the gloss is £12 - which is quite pricey. You can buy Clinique in department stores like Debenhams and John Lewis or in bigger branches of Boots. You can also order direct from their website (www.clinique.co.uk) or if you want to find it cheaper lots of discount websites stock Clinique.
COLOURS AVAILABLE:
There are 18 colours available in this product. Clinique groups them into 'nudes', 'tawnies', 'pinks' and 'violets'. Within each group there are really light shades, which are almost clear, up through to darker shades. I have 'Bonfire' (07) which is part of the tawny group. It is like a dark, dusty pink colour.
PACKAGING:
The box the gloss comes in is the standard Clinique packaging of a green flowery box. The gloss itself is in a long, clear plastic tube. The top is silver and is a screw top. This has the sponge applicator attached to it.
INGREDIENTS:
I don't have a full list of ingredients but the active ingredients are 'octinoxate' - 7.5% and 'octisalate' - 4%. (The writing is really small so there's a fair chance they're spelt wrong!!)
USING THE PRODUCT:
You apply the product with the sponge applicator. The gloss goes on very smoothly. The first thing you notice is that the gloss feels thicker than most glosses. It is not really sticky which is always a worry for me with glosses so I really like that about it (having said that, my hair still sticks to it but the person who invents a gloss that doesn't make that happen will be a millionaire!!). The gloss immediately makes my lips look a lot fuller. The gloss is shiny (but not gaudy). When you look at the gloss its as though it has thousands of gold particles in it which gives it a really nice light reflecting look.
The colour of the gloss I have isn't too bright. It makes my lips look darker but it isn't too dramatic and so I feel happy using it for day or night wear.
One of the main reasons I bought this gloss was due to the SPF 15. I really like the idea of having a sexy look lipgloss which won't fry my lips (as some other lip products seem to do). I haven't had a huge amount of opportunity to test out the SPF in the current British weather! However, the few times I have used it when the sun has been shining my lips have stayed burn free.
The product claims to last for 8 hours. I can't say whether this is true as in any period of 8 hours (apart from when I'm asleep) I eat and drink! The gloss makes no claims to stay on during eating or drinking (or kissing for that matter - although I have tested this side less!). However, I can say that the gloss stays on a lot longer than any other gloss I've tried. No gloss is going to have as much staying power as a lipstick but I much prefer the look of a gloss so this is ideal for me.
CONCLUSION:
I really love this gloss. It looks amazing on, lasts for a long time compared to other glosses and the SPF seems to work. The only drawback is the price - although it's not too bad considering you have to apply it less than cheaper glosses. Also, if you can find it on the Internet or can pick it up in another country on your travels then its definitely worth it. Another tip is to buy at Clinique Bonus Time when you buy two products and get lots of little goodies for free. Overall - highly recommended for sexy lips!
Thanks for reading!
Summary: Good stuff!
