How I came across this product

I am quite a follower of Clinique (especially of their skincare) and recently stumbled upon this little beauty. I was browsing the Clinique counter in my local department store when this moisturiser caught my eye and after receiving some information about it from the helpful consultant, and trying some out, I purchased it at the price of £30 for a 50ml jar. This is suitable for all skin types.

packaging and appearance of product

This product is an oil free gel of a pale peachy/pinky colour in a hard plastic jar with a silver twist off lid. On the front of the product is written - CLINIQUE moisture surge extended thirst relief - with the claims of this product written on the back. The back of this product states that this product is
===Allergy tested, 100 % fragrance free. Rapid, long - lasting hydration in a refreshing oil-free gel. Delivers a burst of moisture. Smooths, softens. Locks in moisture all day. Use under or over make up ===
I think that is quite a lot to ask of a moisturiser! I would like to start off by saying that I have only ever used this product underneath my make up and so while I can't comment on how it would be over make up, I would expect (based on my use of the product and its texture) that it would possibly make your make up run.

feel of the product on my skin

The feel of this product is amazing! This is what sold it to me in an instant. I hate the feel of really heavy creams on my face so this is perfect for me. It is a very light weight feeling gel that spreads very generously over the skin with a wonderful refreshing feel. As it is oil free it doesn't leave that horrible oily feeling that some moisturising products can have on your skin.

not your typical day to day moisturiser!

This is NOT your average moisturiser, this is not a daily moisturiser (although you could use it this way), it is a treatment moisturiser! When purchasing this I was informed by the knowledgeable Clinique consultant that because this is a treatment moisturiser, you do not need to use it everyday in order to receive the full benefits. Instead she recommended that you only need to use moisture surge twice a week in order to get wonderful hydrated skin. Sounds good to me as this would mean that your moisturiser would last for a very long time. To use this way just use as any other moisturiser, don't overload your skin with product and ensure you avoid the eye area (you should use specific eye products for this area as it is far more sensitive than the rest of your face).

multifunctional moisture surge

Not only is this product a treatment moisturiser to be used twice a week, you can also use it as a mask! Amazing! Personally i haven't come across a moisturiser before that has also been designed for use as an intensive hydrating facial mask. This is my favourite way to use this product. Slather on some of this wonderful gel all over your face in a thicker than usual way. Leave on for five minutes to allow your skin to drink up as much of this as is needed. After five minutes simply rub in the excess gel and voila! Amazing plumped up smooth skin. I try to use moisture surge this way once a week or so and I always feel like I am spoiling myself when I do, it feels like a real treat!

how quickly it absorbs into your skin

To be totally honest, I do find this does take a little time to absorb into my skin but I don't tend to mind as I put make up over it and I usually have the time to wait for it to sink in. I would expect it to absorb more quickly if your skin was more dehydrated.

value for money

Because of how little you need to use in each application, and because you don't need to use it every day I personally think that moisture surge is brilliant value for £30 although I think it is a shame that it is not available in a slightly smaller size which would be a bit easier on your purse!

other products in the moisture surge range

There are not many products in this range, the only ones that I am aware of are:
Moisture surge face spray - £18.50 for 125 ml
Moisture surge tinted moisturiser SPF 15 - £21 for 30ml
All of these products can be found online, or at clinique counters in departments stores, independent stores, and larger boots stores.

would i recommend this product?

Definitely! This product leaves my skin feeling absolutely amazing and unbelievably soft to touch. I'd recommend going to your local Clinique counter to find out if you could get a sample then you could try for yourself. It is possibly a little on the expensive side but in my opinion it is more than worth it!

Thanks for reading.
