Another clinique sample review! i recieved this product as part of the clinique bonus time promotion, in which, by buying two products from clinique, you recieve a whole host of goodies to try out. I have used plenty of clinique products in the past, and have found most of them to not be as amazing as they claim, a dissapointing outcome from such an esteemed brand. However the moisture surge extra thirsty skin relief was truly great.
The product comes in true clinique style packaging, clean and simple. A see through glass pot, with a silver lid, and white writing with the product details. It retails at £30 for 50mls, so imagine my happyness at being given a 30ml pot free of charge. They claim that this will rehydrate your skin and plump it out. One of the best things about this product is that it is oil free, fragrance free and dermatalogically tested, which make me sure that it won't irritate my easily irritated skin.
The moisture surge is a serum or gel-like in consistancy, and light pink in colour. The lady at the clinique counter said to me that you can either use it as a light layer over moisturiser, or as a thick mask before bed. To use it as a mask, you are simply meant to apply a thick layer, leave it on for 10 minutes and then massage it into your skin, removing the excess.
When i used it as an extra step to my moisturiser, it felt lovely and cool on the skin. It soaked in really well in the thin layer and my skin felt very soft. It also kept it's moisture by the time i went to bed. I found that by using this product regularly, the texture of my skin improved, and that even without it, i still had lovely, baby soft skin.
As a mask, i found dramatic results. It is quite slippery, and i found i simply had to lie down to keep it on my face, but after massaging it in and tissuing off the excess my skin felt amazing. It looked clean and fresh, and felt beautifully soft.
I think for £30 the product really goes a long way, unless you insist on using it as a mask every other day, you only need a tiny amount on your face. My only issue is that it doesn't contain spf, but as i tend to double this up with another moisturiser that does contain spf, its not too big a deal.
Would i recommend - hell yess
Summary: a brilliant serum to compliment your daily routine
