Advantages: Gets rid of the gunk

Disadvantages: Has a sting in this tale

I am not renowned for wearing make-up on a day to day basis. This has a lot to do with laziness on my part coupled with a long-held belief that it is nice to have somewhere to 'go' with your make-up in the evenings.

And it is in the evenings that I sometimes 'go' a little mad, being a fan of eyeliner and mascara. However, I am frequently to be seen of a late night, attempting to chisel the gunk back off again - finding that my eye make-up choice seems to vacilate between a. will not be moved by water, but will be moved by pillowcase and b. runs all over face, towels, cloth etc, etc.

You notice I use the word 'water' here - largely becuase I have struggled to find a commercial product that doesn't leave my eyes stinging and red raw after use.

So imagine my delight when upon purchasing a couple of Clinique products I was given a 'goody bag' containing, amongst other things, a make-up remover which claimed the following: 'Known as the 'vanishing act', a fast dissolver of all eye colour... oil free and sting free.'

Sounded fantastic, with the possible exception of the word 'solvent' in its name, which had me thinking of disillusioned youth, glue and plastic bags.

However, the packaging looked friendly enough, the usual simple plastic affair, with the 100 per cent fragrance free liquid glowing a cool blue within, it really looked quite welcoming.

But, upon adopting the stance - large cotton wool ball dunked in solution - I discovered the blurb was lying.

When I wiped the bud over my eyes it did indeed sting - not as much as some products I have used in the past - but enough to leave me clutching blindly for the cold water tap.

However, despite the initial stinging I discovered it had certainly removed all traces of the make-up. It also managed the feat of removing the make-up without making me look like a small panda or an extra from
a Kiss video - a definite plus.

Oil free it certainly is, sting free? Well not for me.

In conclusion, this latest addition to the removal gang will certainly banish those late night black eyes, but boy, does this stuff smart.

Personally, I like the extra from a Kiss video look. But I was dropped on the head as a child. Very good review, even though I don't actually have a clue what you are talking about, being all testosterone and hair (see profile picture).

Sounds good, if a tad on the dear side! I'm still relying on H20 by NorthWest Water!
