Advantages: Really works
Disadvantages: Expensive
Oily skin has its benefits. Yes, really. For one, it is known to wrinkle much less than dry skin. For another , it is self moisturising, so does not need to be doused with expensive creams. (I know the beauty industry tells us that we simply 'must' use a special moisturiser for oily skin, but any dermatologist working in the medical rather than beauty industry will tell you this is absolute b*lls - always remember that beauty editors, unlike dooyoo writers, are handsomely paid to promote products and also given lots of freebies into the bargain). However, oily skin also has its downfalls. One is spots, which fortunately I don't suffer from too often. The other is the dreaded SHINE, which I do. You know how it is. You give your face a good going over in the morning, and by 10 am you're looking like you could hold the national downhill skiing championships on your nose, forehead and chin. Also, oily skin looks SWEATY and sometimes DIRTY, even though it isn't. All in all it's incredibly unattractive, feels horrible and ruins make up (which slides off like snow from a roof in a thaw). Clinique sheer matteness t-zone shine control is an absolute godsend for helping this problem. It's a non-sticky, non-greasy gel containing minutely ground powders which controls shine for hours on end. You can put it on either under or over make-up and see an instant mattifying effect. I would recommend it under make-up as it provides the perfect shine-free base for your foundation and it ensures that your foundation stays put. If you do get a shine breakthrough later on, which you might after a couple of hours in a hot pub or club, you can always touch up with a blob on top. I never wear make-up for work (too lazy to get up that extra 10-15 minutes early), but I always wear my t-zone control gel. My face is still shineless by the time I head home 8-9 hours later. without it, I'd
be looking like I'd dived into my lunchtime chips head-first. The gel is 100% fragrance free, allergy tested and non-acnegenic. I have had no adverse reaction to this product at all, just clean, matte, fresh-looking skin for hours at a time. Like all Clinique products it isn't cheap. At Boots I paid £10.50 for a teeny 15 ml tube, but I've used it daily for over 2 months now and there's still plenty left, so it works out very reasonable in the long run. I think I once saw it at island-trading.com for a couple of quid less, but can't be sure. Next time I buy some I'll do a comparison search on a site like kelkoo to see if I can get it cheaper, but I won't be put off if I can't. I'd recommend this product very highly to anyone with oily skin or just an oily t-zone. Sorry if this op sounds like an advert but I am very, very impressed with this stuff. One more tip - If you suffer from 'creasing' eye shadow, try putting some sheer matteness on before your shadow and you'll be amazed at the difference.

- 25/09/02 Good op. I tried the Boots No. 7 one but couldn't see much difference (I don't have mega-oily skin though). |
