I am the typical English Rose - I have the whitest skin in the world! I have never had a tan in my life. The closest thing to a tan I have had was being the colour of a lobster! I find it's quite a pain to be so white. I spent a lot of my childhood in Africa and I did not really have much of a problem. Then I had a shock, two years ago I went on a holiday of a lifetime to Mauritius and after the first day I was feeling rotten and got lumps and bumps on my skin and after a trip to the Dr I realised I had an allergy to UV rays! I now have to take allergy tablets 1 week before I travel abroad. So it is essential that not only I buy a good hat, I buy the ... Read the complete review

As part of my attempts to get a proper skin care regime up and running before the sun damage overtake my face, i was introduced to Super City Block at the Clinique counter. The product was sold to me on three counts - the first was that it was a nice, light product that could double as a makeup primer. The second was the SPF factor, essential to make sure you have coverage from the sun on even the gloomiest of days, and the third, which i found most interesting, was a protection from the day to day fumes and nasties associated with living in a city. i was hooked, so bought it. the product itself is a creamy lotion with a hint of tint. it's not as ... Until a year or so ago I was under the impression that I only needed sun protection on days when I was planning to spend a lot of time in the sun, and in the Summer months only. Then, on a trip to the Clinique counter to repurchase my favourite eyeliner (Brown Sugar Creamshaper, incase you are wondering!), the Sales Assistant handed me a small sample of one of their sunblocks. I kindly refused, informing her I didn't spend much time, at all, in the sun. Shocked, she told me I should be wearing sun protection daily, even in the Winter, to protect my skin from UVA and UVB rays which are present and harmful all year round - even on cloudy days. I took the sample ... Read the complete review

Let's cut to the chase. I am a woman. I am (nearly) 35 and would probably, in all honesty, feel a bit of a fraudster if I ticked the 'Spring Chicken' box. I live in Sussex where the climate is mild. (Such a beige word, 'mild' isn't it. Like 'pleasant'. Discuss). I have skin. It is neither particularly dark nor English rose pale. It is, however, a little on the blotchy side, I suppose. My nan had similar skin. On her, it looked right, but she was old, as nans are. On her it was rosy-cheeked. On me it is a blimmin nuisance. Is it my own fault? Yes it is, thank you for asking, because I may have sunbathed once or twice when younger without any sun cream on my ... Read the complete review

I have been using Clinque Super City Block SPF 40 for a couple of years now, and can't live without it! Part of the reason is I live in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania quite near the equator. It is extremely hot and humid so I need a good strong sun protector, which it is, and it is quite light, so it does not block the pores. Other products really make me sweat as the skin can't breathe. Also it serves two purposes as a sunblock and a tinted base all in one. It is easy to apply, gives a good all over cover, with or without foundation on top. It looks very natural. Price wise, I find it very reasonable compared to other products on the market. I am not ... Read the complete review
