~*~ Clinique Super balanced Makeup ~*~
Although I'm a bargain hunter through and through, the one thing I never scrimp on is good foundation. Although I only wear foundation for nights out or particularly hung-over days, I really do think it's important that the foundation you choose suits and matches your skin perfectly, as there is nothing worse than a badly matched shade and tide-lines!
I switched to this foundation about two years ago, after a make-up 'fitting' at the Clinique counter, where this particular product was matched by their rep to my skin. I was a bit reluctant to go to the make up fitting at first - I had the idea in my head that they would judge my poor make-up application skills (after all, they are the professionals!) and then try to force me into purchasing hundreds of pounds worth of products from them. Luckily I was very wrong, and the experience was a very good one overall! I was recommended several Clinique products, and then given free trials of them to go away and try at home. I was also given an appointment for a week later to return to see how I'd got on, and then purchase if I so wished. So, no pressure, and free samples - perfect! I really do recommend you going for a fitting if you are thinking of changing your make-up.
Anyway! This foundation is for dry combination to oily combination skin. I have a mixture of dry and oily skin, as I found out in my consultation, which isn't very lucky! This make up contains an equaliser for combination skin, moisturising when needing to, and absorbing oil in other areas. It also claims to minimise the appearance of fine lines, and protect the skin from environmental damage. The make up is hypoallergenic, oil-free and contains antioxidants, so it is actually good for your skin! One of the main reasons why I chose Clinique is because my skin has the tendency, unfortunately, to break out in spots - particularly when I'm about to go to a wedding, big night out, or romantic weekend away, of course. I have used Clinique products in the past and they have never caused any problems with my skin. This one has lived up to that good reputation also!
This make up provides 'moderate' coverage (as opposed to light or heavy which are other options available in the range). I find the make-up provides the perfect amount of coverage to even out skin tone and hide any perfection without giving that overdone, caked-on look. It can also be used as both a daytime or evening foundation - it's very versatile!
Application is easy, simply pour a little onto your finger tips and massage on with fingers. I always set the foundation with a light coating of Clinique's superpowder double face powder - this is supposed to be a standalone product but I find it makes the foundation last longer and gives it an even more flawless finish.
This product can be purchased from Boots and department stores such as Debenhams and House of Fraser, as well as online at Clinique.co.uk. On their website, you will pay £19.50 for 30ml. It's the same price at Boots at the moment, but you also gain 750 advantage card points (£7.50) with any three Clinique purchases. It's worth doing a bit of research before you purchase to ensure you get the best deal.
Now I have started using this foundation, I don't think I will ever change! It is very kind to my skin, provides great results and is very long lasting. The only thing I would change about it is the price. However, a bottle of this lasts me at least 6 months, sometimes longer, so really it's not that expensive when you work out price per application. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with sensitive skin looking for a versatile foundation that can be worn from morning to night. Enjoy!
Summary: A good versatile foundation
