Advantages: works well, looks nice

Disadvantages: very heavy and not worth the money.

I hate using lip gloss and usually stick to a tiny dap of lipstick. However, over a week ago I found this lip gloss in a Clinique gift set that my friend got me last Eid, which I have now found out she won free with a magazine, but oh well a gift is a gift. I thought some of the products in the gift set were very good, and the lip gloss was also good but when I saw that it was £11 worth of a lip gloss, my opinon of it began to change slightly.

*Application*
The bit where the gloss comes out (great expression I know), is flat, plastic and is slanted. It comes in a squashy tube and there's a little hole where the gloss comes out. It appears very thick in colour and not at all transparent. Many people have complained the colour does not transfer well on to the lips, so I have to doubt if their opinion is genuine as the type of lip gloss is a non-transparent and full-on colour, unlike some of the cheaper glosses you find where the gloss is for the most, transparent with hints of colour coming through. The gloss is extremely thick and heavy although considering it is a very vibrant lip gloss you shouldn't have to apply too much of it. A fault I found with this is that I was always wasting lipgloss because you never really knew hoe much to squease and how much you would use.

*appearance*
It is a shiny gloss which in my opinion may have a tiny hint of sparkle when you squeeze it out the tube and give it a close look, although for the main there is no glitter effect which I was disappointed with. It is just a plain gloss with a pearly-look. Because of the thickness and heaviness of the gloss, it can sometimes appear a bit fake and can look like you've applied too much, although I tried putting a tiny bit on the lips and it just looks like you've applied too little and can still see the cracks of your lip underneath you really with the gloss you are stuck between a rock and a hard place. The colour I was given is called Currant and it is really vibrant. I was quite shocked because I never thought it would be a brand to sell vibrant colours, but I believe all the other shades are very bland and soft so this colour was just a one off. I did feel the colour was very strong for me and I think a lip gloss should be very subtle, but at the end of the day that's only my opinion. I know this is a silly comment to make, but I feel with this lip-gloss my teeth felt awfully yellow. I have only worn this a few times but with my usual lip gloss (the 24 hour one), I usually feel that my teeth appear a bit whiter but for some strange reason I felt this made my teeth look dirty. Maybe it is psychological, but it didn't impress me.

*The feel*
The lip gloss claims to be "moisturising" but in all honesty, after using it I didn't notice it was any more moisturising than a cheaper maybe line one. I didn't feel my lips were moisturised, I felt as if it was a weight sitting on top of my lips dragging them down and ruining my smile. It was fragrance free so it's not a fruity tooty or whatever kids wear nowadays. It feels very thick, and although it was 100% non sticky and did have that "expensive" feel, the thickness of it caused hairs to get really messy when waving around. I only wore it in the hotel on holiday when my hair wasn't covered, and even the breeze coming in from the veranda caused my hair to get full of the gloss.

*durability*
I have used it a good few times and have nearly the full tube left, in fact I only stumbled through ti a few days ago which caused me to write the review. I remember applying it in the morning, and by evening it has weared off a lot but my lips didn't have that awful pale look, there was still a bit of colour left on it which means for a lipgloss, yes, it is fairly durable but then again I was rather just pay the £10 for the 24 hour one that is less "glossy", non sticky and doesn't make me teeth look yellow.

I'm not going to say it's awful, yeah I'll wear it again now that I've found it, I'll wear it again but it doesn't do anything that a cheaper lipgloss doesn't do and I wouldn't pay that sort of money for it. If it's free, take it and cherish. If not, don't bother paying.

Summary: Take it if it's free or discounted but don't pay the full price for it, it's not worth it.
