Advantages: Cheap fantastic cider!

Disadvantages: Usual cheesy music!

Ok, so I'm not your typical clubbing type of girl. Well at least I'm not in England! But it all changed when I came across the Fever nightclub in Helsinki (Annankatu 32, Kamppi). First of all it's 18+ which seems to be rather unusual here - some clubs going up to an age limit of 25!- so that was a bonus for us younger party animals.
Walking in can be slightly awkward if you don't speak Finnish, but they're polite nevertheless. As the name would suggest, it is a rather funky colourful place and has sofas upstairs overlooking the dance floor. The tunes are the same cheesy rubbish as English clubs but the difference is, it actually goes with the happy atmosphere of the place. Everyone's there to have a good time, and although the odd scrap happens outside it doesn't seem to have any of the ridiculous violence that goes on back in some English clubs.
The best bit is that 'Happy hour' here actually runs from something like 10pm to 12pm where fosters and cider is only 2Euros. (It was when I last went back in October 2008 anyway.) Considering the average price can range up to like 10 Euros for a spirit and mixer, this is a damn good deal! And to top it all, the cider (Upcider) was the best I've ever had. It even got me dancing. That is saying something.

Summary: A great place to spend a Friday, Saturday or indeed Wednesday night in Helsinki!

ah yes, if I remember rightly, you can get in free before 10pm then its slightly expensive. I've never been to Tavastia before but I must do sometime =)

Ah, I remember this place! A group of us ended up there after Tavastia closed on a drunken Sunday night.
Music was pretty good and the drinks were much cheaper than any of the other bars we'd visited!
Only problem was a misunderstanding with paying the doormen's fee! But was sorted pretty quickly.
Great place!
