I will start by saying that the Agincourt is not for everyone, but those that it is for will love it, hopefully as much as I do.
The Agincourt is the UK's oldest running rock club, at just over 30 years old now. It is situated on the A30 in Camberley, Surrey next to a 24 hour McDonalds.
Open friday and saturday nights every week, it is the place in the area for a great night of Rock, Metal, Punk and Alternative music.
Friday night is Quarentine night once a month, as the old Quarentine club in Farnborough closed down a short while ago.
Saturday night is rock night, filled with awesome music sets, a great atmosphere and even better people.
I personally prefer to go on a saturday night, and I have been going to the Agincourt (AKA the Ag!) for years now, and it is actually where I met my current partner and many of my good friends.
Saturday nights are usually DJ'd by Brad, who may be stuck in his ways when it comes to some of the music sets, but he always plays some great tunes and hes a good laugh too.
There is two bars in the Agincourt, and a good seating area, so you can socialize with friends away from the loud music, or rock it out on the dancefloor, which is edged by many tables and chairs, but its not for a conversation, its way to loud for that!
Some of the drinks can be a little pricey, but you learn which drinks cost what, and I love the themed nights which have different drink offers, and there is always quite a large selection of drinks.
The Agincourt also does special themed nights for things like New Years Eve, Christmas and Halloween, and these nights are always the best party around. Fancy dress, competitions and great fun to be had by all at these events. The decoration and effort that the staff put into these are outstanding, especially halloween.
If you plan to go to one of the special nights, I recommend getting there early, as I was once turned away on a Halloween event as there was a huge queue already waiting to get in at 11pm!
There are also gigs that happen at the Agincourt. Many a different rock band has played there over the years, including my favorite gig there, Fozzy. Best plan to find out who is playing when is to check out their website www.clubagincourt.com as most people who go to the gigs find out about it from going to the club itself.
There is a smoking area outside for the smokers who like to rock out, and its actually quite a sociable place, probably due to fact you can talk to people easier, and its a great way to cool down as it can get quite hot inside, especially in the summer and when there is a lot of people.
Even if you go alone, you will always find someone to chat to, most of the people who go there are friendly and open, something I don't seem to find in most other clubs these days. I love the fact that I never feel alone there, and there is always someone around I know to dance with or chat too.
The staff are always good fun too, and there is a car park out the back of the club for anyone who is driving, although this is a little tight, and can fill up quite quickly so best get there early if you want to get a space, otherwise you would have to park in McDonalds.
The club opens at 9pm and is usually open till half two in the morning, and if you arrive before 11pm you pay only £5 to get in, after 11 it is £6. ID may be required if you look young.
The Agincourt is a great place for a night out if you like rock or metal music, so I recommend it to everyone who likes that style of music, as I truly believe there is no better rock club in the UK.
