Now you can Rock the Kasbah (Colosseum)

Advantages: cheap, fun, nice and friendly people

Now no longer call the Colosseum, the newly named Kasbah is my favorite club in coventry, if not, my favorite club i've been too!

I arrived to coventry just under 2 years ago, a fresher to coventry university and prepared to get VERY drunk. When I started university, the Kasbah wasn't open, it was transforming from the colesseum, I didn't even know it existed. I would go to Lava mostly, and various pubs around the city. That was until flyers began getting handed out all around coventry.

The first time i went to "the colly", which even though I never knew it as the colosseum we still call "the colly" for some reason, it was great. Here is my main review:

The price: The colly is extremely cheap! Way, way cheaper than any of the other clubs in coventry. While i have little experience of going to the colly at the weekend (which is more expensive and not very student like), on monday, occasionally wednesday and fridays it will cost around £3-4 to get in, cheaper with an NUS or sometimes they let you cheap with a simple student card. There are various offers, and when it first opened, you could get bottles for 50p. Thats a bottle of strongbow for 50p! While the price has now gone up, some nights have bottles as cheap at 80p and if they are more expensive, ive never seen a bottle over £1.50. The colly is definetly great value for money.

The rooms and music: There are 3 rooms with very different styles of music. The smallest, upstairs room is more RnB and no real room to dance, we only really go here at the start of the night, the room is very attractive with a theme that i can't quite put my finger on! The main room is more pop and dance, and is large with a stage and funky mirrors at the back. There is a side room with rock music that often plays unsigned bands. Then there is the smoking area, an outside place which is very cool. There is an outside bar and a huge tent like structure above it with palm trees and candles. It feels very much like you are in a different country.

The atmosphere: A problem with the colly is that it sometimes is very empty. I have been on a night out there, and stood waiting for someone in the toilet, and it was actually silent, strange for sucha big club. I dont understand why it is not really busy, but unlike some people, i like it when it is not busy but hey! When it is busy the atmophere is nice, the people that go there seem nice, and unlike in other clubs, people seem more friendly, and ive never seen a fight in there.

Overall it is a great club that i go to very often.

Summary: Awesome place, which also hosts concerts!
