Advantages: Cheap entry and drinks, Great sound and light and general atmosphere, Right next to New Street
My first night out in Birmingham ended up in DNA, and if the more famous clubs can offer better nights out than it, I'm coming here a lot! After watching Luton Town get their arses kicked by Walsall, some heavy drinking was required, and Broad Street is surely one of the best drinking areas anywhere. After getting suitably intoxicated we were reccomended DNA as the place to finish off the night (it was a Tuesday and they had their student promotions so seemed very tempting).
We got there very early and it seemed fairly empty save for a few dancing queens on the somewhat small dance floor. It filled up pretty quickly though, but not so much that we couldn't breathe.
The prices at the bar were very impressive. Carling and whisky and coke were both £1 a go so the night worked out very cheaply for me. I'd guess all the rest of the drinks would be normal club prices (around £2.50 a pint?).
A word about the toilets: if you've not been here before don't get confused. I nearly went in the communal "bowl" past the entrance before I saw someone go through another door to the blokes.
The actual place is damn impressive. the floor space is quite small but the club is really tall with about 3 levels, so never feels too cramped. The lighting and sound systems are stunning and accompany the mix of commercial dance (my favourite), trance and some cheese.
As for pulling, there were a lot of couples the night I went and most girls I think stayed the safe side of drunkenness so don't expect much. As ever though, you never know! Anyway, after many drinks who cares? Just enjoy the music.
All in all a top cheap night out.
