Advantages: Atmosphere, Music, Enjoyment
Disadvantages: Doesn't accept cards
Electric Ballroom is a venue situated on Camden High Street, a short stroll from the underground station. The neon lighting sign ensures you can't miss it!
The venue itself is host to both live gigs and club nights.
There are several bars situated within the venu, both downstairs and on the upper level. As a note, cards are not accepted at the bar, and there is no card machine inside, so it is advisable to bring cash.
Downstairs is Level 1 which is the main stage and dancefloor area, and 2 bars, with there being only a few seats around. Also a cloakroom is situated on Level 1, near the entrance.
Upstairs at Level 2 there is a room of booths and seating which is nice if you just want to relax or have a chat and a drink. The decor is pretty vibrant too. I like to start the evening upstairs on this level and then head downstairs when I feel like having a dance.
There is also another dance area on Level 2, however this is smaller and the music selection is different to that of Level 1.
Toilets are situated on Level 2.
There is an outside smoking area within the club itself, so you don't have to hang around on the street to have a smoke.
As a club night:
Club nights currently run on Fridays and Saturdays. There is an entry fee for these nights.
On the 1st Friday of the month, there is INFERNO. This night is host to gothic, industrial, ebm and rock music. I have to say that out of all the nights this is one of my favourites there. Expect to see people in bold outfits, expect everything, anything goes. The energy inside on this night is one I cannot describe, it is one of the few places I have been to where you can just let your hair down and not give a ****
Noone judges you or stares at you, so if you want to jump around waving your arms or whatever then you can. Anything goes. It is a place where you just feel free.
On the remaining Fridays of the month, the club is host to Sin City, which is host to alternative rock and metal. I find this night tends to attract more of a younger crowd, however it can still be an enjoyable night. When I previously went there used to be girls dancing in cages, which is something different.
Prices for fridays range between £5-7. I advise you to get a flyer from the website or from the street in Camden for cheaper entry.
On Saturdays, the club is host to Shake which is a pop, disco and party night. Entrance for this night is slightly more from £8 - 10.
Overall I find this club to be a great night out.
Summary: A great night out!
