Essential @ Club Voodoo (South Wales)

Voodoo is a fairly large club located very near the centre of Newport and is located very near to the main pub/club part of Newport so it's easy to reach. For pre-club bars I would recommend La Bamba's which is a small Mexican restaurant and cocktail bar located just up the high street oposite Mc Donalds. Another good bar is John Henries, but the doormen here can be a bit scary at times. Once you reach Voodoo you have to walk up a few sets of stairs to get into the club where you reach the reception and have to pay. Essential on fridays is no more, sadly voodoo does not open for the over 18s on friday no more due to a very very poor turnout. Instead on a friday a under 17s event is now hosted, featuring loads of top class acts. But thats for the kids init. Voodoo oon a saturday is packed full of people. The music is pathetic, and the DJ very poor. The atmosphere of the club is ok, but not the best due to the safe boys. However it is always packed because of the fact that most people who goto voodoo cannot get into zanzibar on a sat nite cus of the over 21s nite.
