Advantages: Great music, if its your cup of tea

Disadvantages: Only good if you like retro tunes

A much-needed addition the streets of Cheltenham. Finally, a retro bar that is not only popular but is tastefully decorated and offers some fantastic drinks promotions.

I was one of the first visitors to Fever when it opened and have noticed, steadily, the number of part-goers increasing dramatically. The queue outside, which was once non-existant, is now matching Blush next door in terms of length.

The club opened in 2007/2008 and replaced the not-so popular Office nightclub that was there. It features a hearty mix of cheesy 70s/80s tunes (Abba, Jason Donavon, Kylie Minogue and Wham for example) as well as some little-heard classics which other retro clubs tend to avoid.

The DJs are local presenters on Star Radio so know what they're doing - and take requests aplenty. The club is spacious and you never generally feel squashed up against a sweaty wall, as you might in other local clubs. It is carpeted throughout with a trendy, retro, flashy dance-floor with flashy lights. Oh, and the "pole" is always popular if you fancy showing off your skills. There is a comfortable VIP area with furry sofas - lovely to unwind here if you get "in" with the bouncers! Drinks promos are great and attract the masses with BOGOF promotions and free entry often touted.

Clientele are often much older than other clubs - with a fair mix of 30 somethings and businesswomen making up the dancefloor. It avoids the drunken yobs and fighting teenagers of other clubs. All in all, this a great club for Cheltenham to have, which is so different to the other clones in the town. An older crowd and more spacious surroundings make this a recommeneded visit for all.

Summary: A great night out
