This long running night has a rep for attracting celebs form the black music world, who frequently get on the mic for the masses. It is very good value @ 5 pounds. I have been going to this midweek party on a regular basis for the past five years and no matter how many times I promise myself that I won't stay to the bitter end, (3.30am) I never manage to leave the dancefloor. My snooze button sees some serious action on Thursday mornings! What is it about the night that keeps me raving till all hours? Well, basically the vibe is relaxed and stylish. Upstairs in the Hip Hop arena, the original wannabe thugs shake their booty for the gangster chicks who sing-a-long Mary J style untill their throats are raw. Downstairs in the more chilled out old school room is where the serious dancing action takes place. The scene is reminiscent of a break dancing face-off, but to true boogie down grooves. It looks a little like the auditions for a Broadway classic like Fame. On the down side drinks can be expensive and the queue to get in seems to reach record lengths each week! None of this appears to put the regulars off though and I've often met people from as far away as Manchester, who have made the trip down specially.
