On a recent trip to Dublin I chose to stay at the 3 star Ormond Quay Hotel. The website wasn't wrong when it said clsoe to the city centre. The hotel is right by the river and is only two minutes walk from Temple Bar - the main area for pubs and restaurants.
The reception at the hotel was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. My room was clean and had everything I needed - although a few more toiletries would've been nice! The rooms aren't huge by any means but since most people are only looking for somewhere to lay their head at night it didn't bother me too much.

Breakfast was hearty and got me ready for a busy day around town. Again the staff at front desk were happy to point out some local places to visit. They even suggested hiring a car for a trip further afield.

The hotel bar is small but comfortable and it suited me for a quiet drink in the evening before hitting the town. Dublin is a lively city and as I arrived back to the hotel at some ungodly hour, I was still greeted by a smiling porter.

Check out was straightforward and the hotel kindly looked after my bags while I did some last minute shopping.

Next time I would love to be able to stay for longer and see beyond Dublin. I would happily return to the Ormond Quay Hotel. It is a great base from which to explore and perfectly located for all the best that Dublin has to offer.
