I live in Barnsley South Yorkshire, and I think for a small town, the night-life is amazing.

Club Hedonism is cosy rather than small, and the space is utilised well. I am a regular visitor, and I have to say Monday night is the best night to go. The DJ spins a wide variety of current and classic dance, current and classic rock, and as someone who can't dance, It amazes me that I don't leave the dance floor apart from visiting the bars or the men’s room. A typical play list would be:

Robbie Williams - Rock DJ
Queen - We Will Rock You
Chesney Hawkes - I am the One and Only
ABBA - Dancing Queen
Sclub7 - Reach

Only last night, (Monday 22 May) I went to Hedonism, and performing on stage was none other than the one and only - Chesney Hawkes! I was a big fan of his work, or at least, song back in 1991, and I have to say he put on a packed show in a packed club. I have his autograph and I shook his hand. Four times.

The club closes at 2:am and the drinks are usually quite reasonably priced. The bouncers are efficient and strangely, quite friendly. I have never witnessed any significant trouble. You can get in cheaper if you get in before 11 and it’s free if you have one of the ever circulating flyers.

I would say most who visit are between 16 and 25, but there are a few oldies who have as much almost fun as we youngsters.

The Club itself is on two levels, and has an adjoining different venue named Mambo, but I have never made it into Mambo. It's never difficult to get hold of a beverage even when it's very busy, and last time I counted I think there were four bars?

If you like pure dance in the traditional clubbing sense, you are also accommodated on Thursdays through Saturdays. But if you live in Barnsley, or you are close at any time and you like the best rock and pop from the 60s to the present, and are in for a fantastic friendly night, forget work and
all of your troubles and get yourself down to hedonism on Monday nights.
