Having moved from a successful run in Leicester, Hotdog seems to have found a great home in Nottingham. Situated just outside the city centre, this hard house club attracts a great, varied crowd of clubbers with no beer monsters ortownies in sight. I checked the club out for the first time on the 20th January, having heard its reputation from its Leicester days. Fergie and Lisa LAshes were billed, so it was obviously a hard house extravaganza, and I wasn't disappointed. The dog theme runs through the club - from the pics on the wall to the name tags handed out on the night (I was Snoopy!). Overall, the club is typical of the type - a slightly warehouse-y feel (no chrome or mirrors here!). Of course, in a club like this, its the crowd that matters. Most of the usual cliches were present (fluffy bras and yeti boots, tops-off dancers and cyberkids with blue spiked hair and glowsticks), and a friendly and up for it bunch. The tunes varied from early, funkier tunes from the residents, right through to the all-out Tidy Trax anthems when 'monthly bitch' Lisa Lashes stepped onto the decks. By which time, the dancefloor was heaving - adds to the atmos! As usual, 3am comes too quickly - the usual Midlands closing time :( 'Shark' is served instead of Red Bull, and water is £2 a bottle, but apart from that, a top night recommended to all.
