Advantages: central to other places, professional, great music

Disadvantages: Very steep stairs to go up, don't fall down them!

Wow The Quay club in plymouth - what can i say!

Location - The Quay Club was founded in 1984 and is situated in the older part of Plymouth known as "The Barbican." The Barbican is known for its array of clubs and trendy modern bars, ones that cater for the more professional individuals that want a nice evening out without the rough edges. The Quay club is situated next to the Three Crowns which is a pub on the corner, it also conviently has a jazz bar next to it which ties in well with the style of the quay club.

Inside the Quay Club - you walk along the cobbled streets to get to the Quay Club (mind the high heels girlies) - and are greeted by two charming doorman. They do not seem like the normal doorman you get elsewhere in plymouth, they are friendly and are polite - which i think is a sign of a more established professional club. You go up some steep stairs and then go to a little box to pay (usually a few pounds but no more than £5). Once inside you see cobbled walls and just the right amount of lighting. You can go upstairs which reminds me a little of an old looking pub inside. If you go on the floor you came in at the room is quite long with the DJ at the back. Then there is one bar as soon as you walk in.

Drinks/People/Music - the drinks are reasonably priced, however watch out for the weekends as i think they put the prices up a little. I have been here many a time and have never had any "trouble" - people seem kind and considerate and you do not get "riff raff" as it were. The music varies considerably and they usually have defined nights - "Jelly Jazz" has always been a favourite of mine - which is very chilled out and people dance very funny (in my opinion and including me hehehe) - it is just a nice chilled out place to go.

Summary - reasonable drink prices, professional place to go to, good music and very central to other cocktail bars/a few clubs

Summary: Great music, live bands can be amazing, very central!
