Advantages: Bangin music, Not too crowded
Disadvantages: Full of kids, Too many dealers
Mind over matter. No this is not some psychedelic trance night but more underground hard house with the likes of DJ's Ed Real, Joel B and some of my favourites; Skol and Dan Madams. If you don't know then you really don't know. I think I have already reviewed different do's at Camden Palace several times now and writing about it is getting annoying, so is going there. I went to Mind Over Matter back in July and have only just got back on to this site as I have been too busy clubbing and finding a uni. Aaa! It's all too hectic. Well, music wise this is tops. It is one of the least commercial nights at Camden which means it is good beacause tickets won't be too much and they don't pack the clubbers in like sardines. The hard house was bangin but they didn't play too many new tunes, a lot of old classics. The music never takes a risk at Camden, it's all about the money. They're not exactly leading the club scene forwards or anything. As for the crowd, generally under age as usual, which does my head in now that I'm 18, and full of rude boys. Now I don't want to be stereotypical or offensive but there was a lot of Adidas trousered Nike capped attitude about. Plus there was the never-ending amount of dealers stuck to every corner practically forcing you to buy pills. The night I went, Camden was unusually empty as I think Frantic was going on at Brixton Academy. There was also a lot of 16 yr old gals wearing short skirts and high heels.mmm. No comment. Prices are £11 members/£14 non members and more on the door. Not worth paying if you ask me unless you're desperate. (Trying to blag guestlist is pointless as well.) I was supposed to be on the guestlist cos I was flyering for another club but they can never seem to sort it out. Why can't Camden get it right when they charge £15 to get in when all the other smaller clubs can sort out a poxy guestlist? I'm afra
id my opinion of Camden has gone down a lot over the last year. It's only in it for the money, not the clubbers. So only go if you're rich basically. It's certainly not a students venue. The crowd's much too young for us students. Bloody youth club... :)

- 18/09/06 Hi,
I found your profile on dooyoo and was wondering if you have any photos taken inside Camden Palace? I am currently researching and looking for photos taken of either music acts, or people on a night out there? Either that you took or anyone else you know. All information greatly appreciated!
I look forward to hearing from you.

- 12/11/01 Sounds nasty - will be sure to stay away. Last thing you need on a night out is what you've described, plus some 12 year old asking to scrounge a fag or you to get em something from the bar.
btw, remember you left a comment on Spacelamb's op saying Lab4 rocked. Well, they do. Saw em at Brixton Academy a couple of weeks ago. Not quite what I expected - hard house to me means Tidy Trax and Trade kinda stuff, this lot were just pure hardcore Hard. Nuff said. |

- 12/11/01 You can't really complain about underage people if you went clubbing yourself before u were 18 (who doesn't?) But £15, that is a mega rip off. What is it, £2 for a bottle of water? |
