Advantages: fun, cheap
Disadvantages: dress code
Although seen as a gay club Minskys is cool whatever you're sexuality. My first experience was that of going there for a charity male strip night and it's one of the funkiest nights I've ever had. With a group of friends it's really fun as the onus is on you to join in and many times I've seen women on their hen nights there. Situated in the heart of Cardiff Minskys is easy to get to and from, situated just off Queen Street. It is generally inexpensive to get in and drinks are reasonably priced. On the weekend it gets quite crowded and there is a smart dress code although bouncers are reasonable. Look out for special nights, but most nights there is cabaret from acts such as Miss Kitty who gets the whole place jumping and involves the entire audience. There is some room to sit down although most people congregate around the bar, which doubles as the main stage. It's an interesting building although the inside should be redecorated as it looks along the line of Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen gone wrong, as it's looking a bit scruffy now. If you have the chance to go and see charity strippers there do it, if not turn up anytime for a laugh whatever mood your in!
