Advantages: The Music, The Location, The People

Disadvantages: Difficult to get to

One thing that stuck in my mind was the location of Goodgreef. It is held at Phillips park hall in Whitefield, just off the m60 north of Manchester. To get there you have to get off the motorway, drive through a housing estate, down a dirt track, through some trees, then over the motorway across a bridge that is wide enough for just 1 car, then go down this windy road in pitch black with even more trees, and then you get to Philips Park Hall, where Goodgreef is held once a month!

Having never been before, this was the perfect time to go, as it was their 1st Birthday. As well as the residents, the special line up included the Tidy Boys, Jez and Charlie, and Airwave. The good thing about a location like this is that the only people that will bother to go are proper clubbers.

Anyway back to the club, upstairs seemed to be a chillout area, with funky music playing both of the times I was in there.. the first entering the club as that's the way in - you go in upstairs! And the second when I was chilling out funnily enough. The main room downstairs was steadily getting busier, and by about 12 the place was absolutely packed. The main room was fairly big with one end being the bar and entrance, and the other having a double bed in it! (very comfy). The other room was the era of trance room, and this had a screen with visuals behind the Dj area and this room was almost as big as the main room.

Now to the dj's for the night; when the Tidy Boys came on the place erupted with energy. They never fail to impress me, always delivering the goods. Eddie Halliwell was also impressive, keeping the crowd happy throughout his set. Throughout the course of the night I kept making an appearance in the trance room as it did sometimes get too much in the main room! Although it was great in the trance room, members of mayday - 10 in 01 was just too slow compared to the hard house pumping out of the main room. I missed airwave, but I probably woudn't h
ave stayed anyway because I would've been tempted back to the main room!

The highlight of the night was not seeing dev from coronation street - (I don't watch it, just happen to accidentally see it occasionally!) but just the whole experience of going to Goodgreef. The place has a buzz about it, and add that to the quality crowd, you get a brilliant atmosphere, and that's a vital part to a good night.

Held on the last friday of every month, its a night not to be missed. If you're into your hard house then you'll love this place. You can check the listings on their website, www.goodgreef.com

oh my gawd, i cant believe it, cant go anywhere round here these days, tis me, the same gavhen!!!

goodgr eef is still bangin as ever, went again on last friday - still a great crowd, still great tunes, no trance room anymore downstairs (that was just a birthday thang), but they've added a funky chill out room upstairs (dont go in there - funky scares me, lol), now costs £10 for non-members but well worth the money and the journey
