Every Po na na is different. They are technically chain bars, but you would never guess. The one in Manchester is possibly the best bar/club I have ever been to - for a myriad of reasons. Principally, though, it is the most chilled, intimate, relaxing and original bar you will ever visit. Some people don't really like it. I sometime use it as a kind of test on my new friends. If they love it, gaze around in wonder and dance like a loon in the middle of the floor, I see more of them. If they feel uncomfortable, and can't adjust, we are never going to 'click'. Having never been to a Po Na Na's before I didn't know what to expect but my mates assured me it was dope and I wasn't disappointed. Couple of quid in and the drinks aren't that cheap, but who cares if you have a good time and that you are guaranteed. The music is house/funk, no chance of people just standing around, you gotta have a party. The most refreshing thing was the mix of people. Manchester bars are either full of students or full of scallies, Po Na Na's rides the fine line between being classy but not poncey, trendy but still chilled out and exclusie but still accessible (if you know what I mean) perfectly.
