The venue is divided in to three rooms (Main Hall, The Basement and the Rig) which have a total of five bars. There are currently 14+ and 18+ events. They are very strict on checking ID. Now what is Nottingham famous for? No, no, not just that bloke in green tights who just ran around poking evil nobles! It also looks like it was famous for some lace stuff, but I didn't notice that either! Nope, 'tis Nottingham Rock City, lauded amongst rock fans, almost whispered of in revered tones by those who haven't been ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Nottingham! Rock City! (459 words)
by - written on 14/09/01 (Very useful, 215 readings)
Rating:

If you approach Nottingham via the Mansfield Road, Talbot Street is a turning on the left. Keep an eye out for it, it creeps up on you. There is a multi story car park at the top of Talbot Street which is the best, if not the only place to park. Rock City, due to it being licensed, is for 18's and over. With the exception of regular ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Rock City: A Rocking night out (627 words)
by - written on 30/08/01 (Very useful, 84 readings)
Rating:

Rock city is touted as being the best rock club in the north by many popular rock magazines, so me and some friends travelled down from Sheffield to check out this venue. At first it was a little difficult to locate. Rock city is tucked away in a back street. Thankfully when we went into the scream pub round the corner, all we had to do was ...  Read the complete review

It was my 40th birthday a few weeks ago, my wife treated me to a weekend away. We stayed in Nottingham at a lovely hotel and after a day out at the American Adventure theme Park , we decided on a night out at the famous Rock City. We had heard allsorts of rumours about the place, one was from some feedback from a Ciao member saying you ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Rock City: Scruffy Bar = Scruffy People (128 words)
by - written on 18/07/01 (Somewhat useful, 48 readings)
Rating:

After 4 years living in Nottingham I visited this bar once, and that was once too many. If you like being surround by scruffy people who look like car-jackers then enjoy yourself, if you (like me) are not purely looking for the cheapest night out in town then leave this bar well alone. It is primarily a club but is just for 'rockers' ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A MYRIAD OF SENSATIONS! (884 words)
by - written on 12/07/01 (Very useful, 95 readings)
Rating:

Set in the dark and dingy recesses of a backstreet in Nottingham is one of the most unassuming and uninspiring venues I have ever been welcomed into! That place is Rock City, a focal point for many of my teenage years and even now in my ever-growing senility. The name Rock City may sound rather grand, but nothing could be further from ...  Read the complete review

Rock City: Thursday nights (97 words)
by - written on 26/09/00
Rating:

Rock City on a Thursday night has a variety of pop/dance music with cheap drinks due to it being Student night. It has a large stage where the DJ is situated and you can dance on there. No main dress code really but obviously you must be over 18. You can have more of a laugh here when compared to Media but i prefer the music and ahem...women in ...  Read the complete review

You want to pay £1.50 (£2.50 without NUS) to get in, you want to pay £1 a pint, bottle or shot? You want to hear classic tunes from 'Song 2' by Blur, to the Stone Roses 'Fools Gold'? You want to have that awful moment of the lights being turned on, the highlight of the night, when the theme from 'The A Team' blasts out of ...  Read the complete review
