The Arches @ Midland Street (Scotland)
by Dushegg
Having been out and about for a good few years now and attended a good few clubs n pubs I've came to the conclusion that The Arches has to be one of the better places I have graced. However the last 2 years have seen a dramatic change for the Arches; from underground peace to club warfare it has went thru a good few changes. The ... underground appeal is backed up by the red brick arch interior with sweet lighting and usually good sound but the atmospehere is usually tensified by obnoxious door staff who seem to think they rule the world. A pity we cant breakdance anymore or feel at peace. You once had this, if inside attitudes were to change so would my rating. Putting all of this aside and concentrating on the club nights, the Arches has a fine selection, from D&B, deep house and Hip Hop to the more commercial club nights like Colours. My particular favourite is The Funk room with residents Simon Hodge and Andrew Divine, highly rated by all press guru's and dedicated clubbers, it has a rare groove which makes your body move and with guests like Mr Scruff & Andy Smith (Portishead)what more can I say. Check it!

Rosies (Falkirk)
by moloko
Rosie O'gradys (Rosies) nightclub in Falkirk is an amazing club for a small town. Living here when i'm not at University, i go every Thursday night and sometimes at the weekends too. The music is great and the atmosphere is brilliant - much better than you find at clubs in the city. People are so friendly and the staff are ... always polite. The only bad thing about clubbing in a town like Falkirk is that because it's not a student town, prices are quite high. Entrance fees at the weekend are ridiculous and they don't even offer a student discount. And drinks are quite pricy too so it's best to have a drink before you go in! It is a really good club though and if you live in Falkirk or if you're passing through and fancy a night out i would highly recommend going - the music is great, a good mix of pop, dance and cheesy, with upstairs having a more techno/dancy feel. Something to suit everyone!

Fubar Club (Stirling)
by straymuffin
The Fubar! The best night club in Stirling by far. I'd just like to say right at the start of this op that I'm sorry if the details are a bit sketchy, but every time I've been to the Fubar it's after I've been to a few pubs first. It's all a bit hazy really. The one thing I do remember is ... that I've always had a good time in the Fubar. The Fubar is located in Stirling town centre, 6 Maxwell Place. Just round the corner (within staggering distance) from O'Neills(a fine pub - check out my op!). Once you get past the cheery doormen and give your £7(last time I was there) to the girl behind the desk you are free to roam about the club. The club is split over two levels. Downstairs is a sort of pub/game area. There is a small dance floor, but it's more of a pub area really - lots of seats so you can rest your feet. There's a pool table or two(I might have been seeing double at this point) and some arcade machines etc. The downstairs section is the place to be if you've spent all night shakin' your stuff and need a rest. But don't ask for a pint, they only sell bottles of beer. Upstairs is where the action is at. Time to pull out all your funkiest moves and impress the ladies(or men - whatever floats your boat). Upstairs is the dance area. Big, slightly sticky floored with perilous steps up and down where you least expect them. That's Fubar. The bar is suitably long. But if you're up here you're not really interested in drink, you want to dance. There is a stage area at the far end of the club, where all the best dancers(or posers) and the very drunk people show the rest of the club how cool they are. Getting up there is no mean feat after eight pints, six vodka & red bulls and four aftershocks! The Fubar has theme nights. It's 70's night every Friday (I think - it may be Saturday. Let me know if you
know). I was at the Fubar on one of their 70's nights and it was great. Lots of cheesy 70's songs and cool 70's dancers on the stage doing a little show. Funky. You can dress up for it if you want too, although you tend to get funny looks in the pubs before you go to the Fubar! So there you go. Fubar - the best club in Stirling. The drink may be slightly expensive, but that's not what you're there for. Just mind those steps! And if you don't know what 'Fubar' is, watch Saving Private Ryan. Very apt.
