Advantages: Modern, clean, intimate, cheap drinks

Disadvantages: Too many people, long queues to get in

Sea is one of the only modern buildings on the Newcastle side of the Quayside, and has a surprising number of windows for a club. It is quite open and modern inside, with two galleried bars on the first floor, as well as the toilets, and two bars, a cloakroom and a dance floor on the ground floor. The upstairs is accessible by stairs only. Sea is very popular with locals, and students on weeknights. The staff are quite friendly if not run off their feet, and often you will be given a free bottle of champagne if you are there celebrating a birthday on a weeknight!

Music runs towards House and R & B, although there is a specific pop and an indie night during the week. Sea also has attracted some of the big names including Hed Kandi, Miss Moneypennys and Cream. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

The downside to Sea is that they let far too many people in, and on a weekend it's too cramped to be pleasant. Drinks can be quite reasonable however so for a weeknight celebration it's a decent venue.

Summary: Great weeknight venue, but too busy on a weekend, try World Headquarters instead!
