Advantages: Sweet tunes, Nice interior, Eclectic people

Disadvantages: Door staff

Having been out and about for a good few years now and attended a good few clubs n pubs I've came to the conclusion that The Arches has to be one of the better places I have graced. However the last 2 years have seen a dramatic change for the Arches; from underground peace to club warfare it has went thru a good few changes. The underground appeal is backed up by the red brick arch interior with sweet lighting and usually good sound but the atmospehere is usually tensified by obnoxious door staff who seem to think they rule the world. A pity we cant breakdance anymore or feel at peace. You once had this, if inside attitudes were to change so would my rating.

Putting all of this aside and concentrating on the club nights, the Arches has a fine selection, from D&B, deep house and Hip Hop to the more commercial club nights like Colours.

My particular favourite is The Funk room with residents Simon Hodge and Andrew Divine, highly rated by all press guru's and dedicated clubbers, it has a rare groove which makes your body move and with guests like Mr Scruff & Andy Smith (Portishead)what more can I say.
