Advantages: Good music and bands
Disadvantages: Too hot
This is a pub on the outside but inside its more of a trendy gig venue.
I went to a music society freshers party here a few weeks ago.
There is a large main room with a long bar, this bar has only a few bar staff so it takes a long time to get served.
There are some booths for seating and a dancefloor with a stage in front of it.
A cloakroom is available but its £1 per item so it could end up costing you a lot if you have a scarf, coat and handbag.
There is a range of music played in this bar, but the music society had booked 3 student bands to play. The funk band was brilliant and had everyone dancing. They charged £3 to get in but no one was on the door so I just went in.
They have a regular reggae and dubstep night, an indie night and live bands playing a lot. They also have some good resident DJs.
Its really easy to not loose your mates, as the side rooms are quite small, and some werent even open.
The smoke machine was broken so it continuously let out smoke, and there didnt seem to be any air conditioning on so it was like dancing in a sauna! Everyone was sweating and all my pictures came out with a smoke sheen on them!
The drinks were on offer so a vodka coke was £2 which is ok for a student night.
The main room was packed and it was a really great night although a very warm one.
Summary: Good for hiring out for socials.
