Advantages: Relaxing atmosphere, great cocktail jugs, cheap drinks

Disadvantages: Maybe a bit too laid back, far from town

The Faversham, or the Fav... as it is now called is more a pub/bar than a club, though it is quite big witha 600 capacity.Being situated on the Leeds university campus, during the day it is crowded with students taking advantage of the cheap drinks offers and good food, they also return at night where they can relax the plush surroundings or get down to some funky music.

I think the Fav used to be a hotel, this would explain the maze of rooms that it contains. The main room is divided up into several smaller rooms by low walls and partitions, it houses the long bar and toilets and also has a pool room just off it. The whole place is decorated in warm pastel colours and has plenty of leather sofas to sprawl on, especially when watching the big sporting events on the big screen tv's. The second room is actually a conservatory, very light and airy during the day and a place to chill out on a night. On Fridays and Saturdays they have DJ's playing in both rooms, the style of music played varies greatly, so it is best to check ahead if you are into a particular style of music. Usually it is quite layed back, hip hop or funky house, and they regularly have guest dj's such as the scratch perverts or mushroom.

The bar is open til 11 on weekdays and 2 on the weekend, though after 10 there is a £3 charge for non students and £2 fee for students. It usually fills up quite a bit after 11, so it usually best to get there early.

Overall the Faversham is quite nice for a quite drink, or a cheeky pint after uni, but as it's some distance from town it is often overlooked from an evening going out point of view as it is too far to any clubs, but as it's open til 2 with dj's and a dancefloor who needs a crowded club? I would say the Fav is not for everyone, but if you want a laid back, student atmosphere, get yourself down there.
