Advantages: Some decent music, Some beautiful ladies
Disadvantages: Spides and millies on increase, Scummy bouncers, Generally full of W**NKERS!!
The Limelight is by far the worst club in Belfast. I say this as a once loyal regular who wouldn't miss a single Helter Skelter on a Saturday. The bouncers are the most ignorant people I have ever came across, the wouldn't admit one of my friends in because he had a Citizens Card which is a form of ID issued by the Government! When my friend explained to him that it was a registered form of ID the bouncer replied with a smarmy grin "Not tonight it isn't". They totally abuse their authority.
On a number of occasions it gets quite warm since there is no windows and a lot of people in a small space, so obviously when you're out drinking you become dehydrated BUT according to the bouncers if you step one foot outside the door for some fresh air you can't get back in! Why are you given tickets then!!! And if you stand inside the door to get some air you are told "Make up your f**king mind whether you're going in or out". Not a nice place to go if you want a good night out.
Also recently the number of spides and steeks has been increasing, you get millies plastered in make up with a Reebok top and baggies, how long will it be before the floor is dancing to DJ Sammy, my guess is pretty soon. This was once the most alternative club in Belfast with a warm and ecletic crowd. Now it might as well be Dempseys with rock music. FOR SHAME!!!

- 26/11/04 I realise that spides and millies are on the increase infiltrating into all genres of music and popping up amid rock. It is a sad fact but one that we must accept. I think your main problem is your sex. Any woman can charm a bouncer. But please agree that the Limelight is one of the best places in Belfast to go in order to avoid pretentious tossers and kappa kids. I have since moved to Bournemouth and would give anything for a night back at The Limelight, especially due to the drinks prices and taxi fares! Hope you've come round a little. Or maybe it has gone to the dogs by now. It certainly got me through my degree with flying colours! Amy

- 18/02/04 My review is aimed only at people who will find it useful ie, people who live in Belfast who will understand what i'm talking about. I'm not trying to reach a wide audience only give an alternate review to the previous glowing one by randomtandem which i found to be misleading. Thanks for the advice anyway but i only joined to diss the limelight. As for grf1 you like spineshank so F**K YOU!! F**king Spineshank, nu-metalwank more like. Buncha c**ts. Jimi Hendrix would be spinning in his grave if he wasn't so busy trying to play the dimished sevenths. |
