      would definitely go back, very delicious food and enjoyable experience

      My boyfriend took me to this restaurant for my birthday and it was a completely excellent choice.


      We walked up from the central station hotel which only took a few minutes, even in heels. From a few streets down it was hard to distinguish the restaurant as the sign outside is not that big, but the number of the property (150) is easy to see from quite a distance.

      The restaurant:

      The restaurant is an impressive looking grey building from the outside. Inside the restaurant is really cosy yet trendy feeling at the same time. Me and my boyfriend were sat in a booth and it was nice to sit together and be close rather than sit across from each other. The booths were brown leather and there was a range of booths and tables with seats. There were tasteful paintings of naked women on the walls, coloured panels of glass and a baby grand piano which added to the atmosphere of the restaurant. The bar is on the other side of the restaurant and is stunning looking with hundreds of different bottles lining it.

      The service:

      Our server was smartly dressed and served us well without being intrusive. He was very knowledgeable about the menu, especially about the specials that day.

      The food:

      We shared a baked Camembert to start which was (admittedly a simple dish) delicious and enjoyable for a couple to share. To follow I had the fish special of the day which was cod with potato gnocchi and a bearnaise sauce. The fish was perfectly cooked and the dish was well put together and thought out - a credit to the chefs. My boyfriend had a rack of lamb with a honey, mustard and herb crust, served with gratin potatoes, fine beans and a light red wine jus which he also found delicious and well cooked. We shared dessert which was eton mess with Pimms soaked strawberries. The strawberries were nice and fresh for a summer pudding and the Pimms gave them a delicious fizzy taste. The food was prompt in arriving and we found everything was cooked really perfectly. The portions were more than adequate and definitely worth the price.

      One negative point was that the restaurant was quite quiet and lacking in atmosphere a little, but that may have been because it was a Sunday. Additionally, there was a special deal on cocktails which we were never made aware of but that we heard another table being told about when they arrived just as we were leaving.
